US manipulation -- a mythPosted byUser:From: sirrah.anonymizer.com On: September 26, 1999 at 19:14:45 why do some people believe that the indonesian soldier does not have a mind of his own. they talk like these people are like robots willing to do as the US commands. many western movies portray the US government as an all powerful gov't able to do all these things. and some people easily believe these movies. take the case of the US bases in Manila. after the Philippine bases agreement expired, how come the US was not able to renew this? if they are indeed as powerful and scheming as portrayed here, this would have been easier for them than building a new base in indonesia! incidentally, aren't the Filipinos more "pro-American" than indonesians? why blame the US for training Kopassus and Suharto? this only goes to prove that these people do not have their own minds and conscience. are they telling us that if we train any person with the latest in military technology, weaponry and torture, this person will also automatically kill innocent people??? man! killing innocent people-- priests, nuns, women and children-- is beyond "training"... this is basic human decency!!! has indonesia lost this too???
