Key expert 1: Water Resources Management Specialist - Team Leader, Category 1 (international)
§ Qualifications and skills
- University degree in hydrology, water engineering, physical planning or a similar scientific field related to water resources management;
- ability to manage and co-ordinate a team of international and local specialists;
§ General professional experience
- Familiar with spatial planning tools and processes;
- Preferably at least 15 years experience with the design, implementation, and evaluation of development or scientific projects in the natural resources sector in China or another Asian country.
§ Specific professional experience
- Substantial knowledge and experience in watershed resources management, including integrated river basin management in Asia and particularly in China;
- Familiar with the relations between water and the culture of ethnic communities;
- Experience with EU-procedures and reporting requirements, and with leading a team of multi-disciplinary experts and co-ordinating their inputs;
- English language proficiency is required; working knowledge of Chinese language is an asset.

Key expert 2: Natural Resource / Environmental Economist - Category 2 (international)
§ Qualifications and skills
- University degree in Natural Resource Economics, Agricultural Economics or a similar field
§ General professional experience
- Preferably at least 10 years experience with policy and project analysis in the environment and natural resource sectors
§ Specific professional experience
- Experience in the analysis of economic instruments in environmental policy/ natural resource use and their implementation
- Experience in integrated economic and environmental planning in both rural and urban areas
- Some experience in Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment concepts and their implementation internationally and in China;
- English language proficiency is required; working knowledge of Chinese language is an asset.
Key expert 3: Regional and Urban Planning Specialist - Category 2 (international)
§ Qualifications and skills
- University degree in Urban and/or Rural Development or a similar field;
§ General professional experience
- Preferably at least 10 years experience with institutional development or related scientific projects in China;
§ Specific professional experience
- Familiar with spatial planning tools and processes
- Familiar with Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment concepts and their implementation internationally and in China;
- Knowledge of state of the art spatial planning tools and processes;
- Substantial knowledge and experience in urban and rural development on international level and in China;
- English language proficiency is required; Chinese language knowledge is an asset.
Key expert 4: Community Development and Culture specialist - Category I (CHINESE)
§ Qualifications and skills
- University degree in Sociology or Anthropology or a similar field related to participation of local communities.
§ General professional experience
- Preferably at least 15 years experience with development or scientific projects in the natural resources sector in China.
§ Specific professional experience
- Substantial knowledge and experience in community development on international level and in China, including cross-sectoral issues and sustainability criteria;
- Knowledge and experiences in integrating cultural aspects and indigenous knowledge in modern development strategies;
- English language proficiency and excellent Chinese language proficiency are required.
Key expert 5: Water Resources and Pollution Control Specialist - Category 1 (CHINESE)
§ Qualifications and skills
- University degree in Water Management, Water Engineering, Pollution Control or a similar scientific field related to management of water resources and water quality. § General professional experience
- Preferably at least 15 years experience with development or scientific projects in the water resources sector in China.
§ Specific professional experience
- Substantial knowledge and experience in water resources management, water conservation, as well as management and prevention of industrial, urban and agricultural water pollution internationally and in China;
- Familiar with specific water management and pollution control issues as well as the institutional water management framework in the Yangtze and Yellow River basins.
- English language proficiency and excellent Chinese language proficiency are required
