INDUSTRY: Plastics and chemicals distribution

COMPANY BIO/PROFILE: Established in 1972 as a sales & distribution / importer & exporter of Plastics Sheet, Rod and Tube, Plastics Resins and Colorants, Chemicals, Metal & Machinery Products, Synthetic Products and General Industrial Products. Distribution centers located in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Houston and Atlanta.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for day-to-day distribution materials management including demand planning, purchasing, warehousing and inventory management and import, transportation and freight logistics in a multilocation distribution environment.
- Responsible for day-today distribution supply chain management function including supervision of forecasting, distribution and inventory planning, purchasing, warehouse and inventory management, import, transportation and freight control.
- Responsible for developing centralized distribution forecasting for four locations and integrating with purchasing using JDEdwards and ERP platform.
- Responsible for developing forecasting processes and procedures and coordinating the routine activities with sales and management group.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining effective distribution requirement planning (DRP) process across all the four geographic locations with the objective of optimizing inventory investment and customer service levels across several product lines.
- Responsible for routine forecasting and DRP processes including coordination of weekly forecast development, MRP / DRP runs required to identify demand/supply in a timely fashion to meet service level objectives, sales requirement and inventory targets.
- Responsible for the purchasing, process including maintaining accurate vendor information and MRP / DRP required data.
- Responsible for sourcing of materials from overseas and domestic suppliers. Routine tasks include efficient purchase order generation and follow-up, schedule updates, coordination with import brokers and forwarders.
- Responsible for time phased materials replenishment and procurement activities to ensure achievement of cash flow objectives and customer service levels.
- Responsible for supplier performance measures and feed back to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to the right DCs.
- Responsible for all warehouse inventory management activities including efficient inventory bin locating, accurate balance on-hand and real time transaction processing.
- Directs all shipping and receiving activities through better scheduling of inbound logistics and order fulfillment through efficient order pricing and packaging.
- Responsible for import logistics including coordination of inbound activities with forwarders and US customs.
- Control of all inventory accuracy through physical, system transaction processing, reconciliation and cycle routing.
- Develop and maintain policy and procedures for all materials management including instructing and coaching employees on hoe to optimize material flow.
- Responsible for planning and controlling transportation and freight management activities throughout the company including working with local management on carrier selection and usage of approved carriers to optimize transportation expenditures.
- Supervises local delivery personnel utilizing company owned vehicles on short run deliveries.
- Develops roles and responsibilities including performance objectives for all SCM employees.
- Direct annual performance reviews to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Identify plan and coordinate development training needs for employees to maintain high standards of SCM competencies.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The position needs to deal with various departments & managers such as sales, branch, purchasing, accounting, financing, etc., the "People Skill" is one of the most important issues.
- The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience in materials management utilizing integrated ERP systems with JDE experience a plus.
- Candidate should have supply chain management experience at the manager level in the areas of demand planning, purchasing, warehouse, inventory control and transportation and freight management preferably in a distribution environment.
- Candidate should have experience in managing by SCM quantitative objectives including costs, inventory levels, revenues, customer service levels, supplier performance and employee productivity's.
- Candidate must be hands-on energetic confident self starter who is independent, creative and driven toward achieving objectives.
- Plastics and chemicals experience a plus.
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well and get along with others.
- Must have 5+ years experience as a manager
- Must be able to set goals and objectives for SCM employees and follow-up.
- Ability manage multiple locations.
- Ability to motivate, train and transfer skills to subordinates.
- Strong analytical leadership and decision making skills are required.

REPORTS TO: General Manager

SUPERVISES: Purchasing, logistic, warehouse departments - A staff of ten to twelve people

EDUCATION: 4-year college degree - Bachelors in Business Administration or related subject.

EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT:
10 + years supply chain and materials management
APICS certification (CPIM) a plus.
Strong computer skills including ERP, Windows and Microsoft Office
Required qualification: Some experiences in the following environment
- Import and distribution business of industrial goods
- Multilocation distribution centers in U.S.
- ERP: JD Edwards on IBM AS400

Salary Range: 70K-90K annual DOQ, with benefits include the medical health & dental insurance, 401K, profit sharing program, vacation.

Prefer candidates from the Southern California area. However, the right candidate will be considered from other areas.
