Job Description
Headmaster
CRMS

The headmaster is the school educational leader and visionary. S/he is hired by the Board of Trustees to oversee day-to-day operation of the school and to implement Board policy. To that end , the Headmaster endeavors in every action to enable the school community to fullfill the stated Mission of the school. S/he is aware of educational issues and trends in both the world of Montessori and the world of conventional education , and helps the School anticipate and respond to those issues and trends as they impact the evolving needs of children and the School. Maintains and oversees the full scope and sequence of the curriculum and compares it with the national standard to make certain that CRMS meets or exceed standard in all areas. Supervises all teaching and non-teaching faculty and reports to the President of Board of Trustees. The Board is responsible for future appointment of the Headmaster and will reassess the situation yearly through evaluative process.


Specifically, the Headmaster responsibilities include , but are not limited to the following :
1. Relationship with the Board
- Brings issues and data to the attention of the President of the Board of Trustees regarding the needs and operation of the School to keep the Board fully informed to meet its responsibilities.
- Serves as the chief communicator between the Board of Trustees and the faculty.

2. Organization
- Creates an appropriate and strong management team for the School. The Headmaster
is expected to share and delegate to appropriate staff so that they will be prepared to collectively lead the School should the Headmaster suddenly become incapacitated.
- Promotes an internal organization that permits effective communication ﷓ up and
down.
- Works to produce smooth day﷓to﷓day internal operations.

3. Planning and Analysis
- Develops with the Board, faculty and staff strategic and tactical plans for the School.
- Encourages perspective via comparisons with similar Thai institutions, external
analyses and critiques. Networks with other groups as needed.
- Remains abreast of trends and research in education, particularly those cultural and political issues affecting independent school operation and educational leadership.

4. Programs
- Sets the tone of the school , conducive to the growth of the whole child , in his physical , emotional , social , and intellectual development.
- Designs, implements and administers student programs and services consistent with the values and teaching styles of a progressive humanistic Montessori approach, and develops systems of scheduling to accommodate these programs and services. This includes after-school, weekend and summer activities.
- Actively engages to learn more about Montessori philosophy. Provides assistance and support to the staff in their efforts to further their own professional education.
- Identifies and helps direct the establishment and organization of extra-curricular activities such as cultural, athletic, and recreational activities, after-hours, weekends and summer programs. Assists with extra﷓curricular activities held during the school day.

5. Personnel
- Establishes productive working conditions, communication between and support for all
professional staff.
- Determines standards, evaluates and assists to maintain reasonable performance and professional growth among staff and dismisses or recommends dismissal of those who fail to meet the standards.
- Establishes practices and procedures to promote harmonious and constructive
relationships among all of the School's professional staff. Consciously works to
establish an atmosphere of team building and planning. Follows a collegial managerial
style rather than authoritarian.
- Maintains personal contact with all School staff members, fostering good public
relations, promoting high morale, and identifying personnel problems as early as
possible. Encourages similar conduct among subordinates.

6. Program and Service Support
- Administers efforts that provide sufficient support for student programs. This encompasses general equipment and facilities as well as technological and electronic systems.
- Assures that a comprehensive set of records is maintained in accordance with the needs of the school , its constituents , and the government.
- Oversees the evaluation of student progress and systems for communicating with
parents assuring that previously approved programs and tracking systems are implemented as outlined. Helps identify resources and necessary intervention early when concerns are identified by the teachers. Meets with the faculty regularly to discuss student progress, and assures and facilitates contact and follow﷓up with families as needed.

7. Environment
- Holds general program responsibility for the safety and well being of all of the
School's students.
- Works to promote harmonious relationships between students, faculty and
administrators, recognizing the importance of developing each individual.
- Strives to create and maintain an aesthetically attractive environment

8. Finance
- Prepares a complete annual budget proposal for submission to the Board of Trustees
