Dear Freeman1: This is Freeman2. In January 1998 I wrote a program PDT.C for Pick DaTa. Now this program is done. PDT allow user to define a STart String sts[] and define an eND String nds[]. Either to keep in-range text and drop out-range text or reverse. I received data web page, its size is 41K. After I pick out what I need, the data is about 3K. I can save storage space. I write C language programs. I use PDT to remove comment lines get pure-code files. Compare two adjecent pure-code files I get the difference of EFFECTIVE CODES. I do not care about the comment change! If you use PDT, I hope it will help you. PDT will keep/remove any (I hope) user defined range text. So PDT can remove comment for C++, FORTRAN, Batch file, Matlab file ... as long as you define correct sts[] and nds[], and it is easy. There are Chinese examples, if you do not know Chinese, please ignore. If you know Japanese or Korean, similar case apply to JP/KR too. For the most part, PDT help text files (no matter if it is J/K/C or not) Programs in the following URL http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/freeman2/enprog.zip are PDT, NDT1AE (New DaTe), FINDDATE, GNB06E (Get NumBer), BYT (BYTe) If you input a date and a day difference number to NDT (New DaTe), NDT will get the new date. If you input two dates, NDT will get the day difference number. GNB06E will convert integer number to equivelent J/K/C character output. Programs in the following URL http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/freeman2/chv2en.zip are CHH and CHV to process J/K/C to vertical display (CHV) or horizontal traditional display (CHH) or change to different character/line (CHH) or cut long text line to short lines (CHH) If you work on J/K/C file and modified the file. Lines become not even. CHH's /CN switch will help you to make the output even in length. If you want to change line length from 20 (J/K/C) characters per line to 25 char per line, and if there are thousands lines in a file, please try CHH with /CN switch. (you need to insert a blank line at must-cut points for the whole file first) For NON J/K/C user, CHH can help too. If you have MS Word *.doc file or Windows *.wri file etc. The text in it has no change-line byte. If you want read in text editor. The too-long part is hard to see. In this case use CHH wich /N switch. If you want output to be 70 bytes per line. Try the command CHH in.txt out.txt /n 70 The output will be 70 bytes per line in AVERAGE. Key point is that CHH will not cut at exact 70th byte. CHH come to 70th byte, look right and look left, find a near point to cut. In contrast, if you want to see what it look like if cut at 70th byte blindly, try the following command CHH in.txt out.txt /c 35 The /c switch is for cut J/K/C files. Two bytes form one J/K/C character. So 35 in J/K/C is 70 in non-J/K/C If you know C language, you can improve Freeman's programs to fit your own need. Hello! My name is Jodi Rowell. Although I live all the way across the world-in the USA I am very concerned about the homeless and dying cats of Singapore! There are so many, and yet, you do nothing about it! I am corresponding with a young woman named Jana who lives in Singapore, and even though she is not allowed pets in her apartment, she is lending a helping hand! She lets many stray cats shelter in a hedge near her apartment. She feeds them and is working extremely hard to get them nuetered and spayed, and find them wonderful homes. She is doing her part, but what about all the other cats who don't find shelter in a hedge and aren't bothered with. What about the cats who haven't found any caring people who will get them fixed and feed them? What about the ones that are dying? You heartless people who don't do anything about these poor cats are unworthy, dirty, scum on the face of this Earth! I am speaking for all of the cat lovers and dying cats in the Universe! I am the voice for the mute sufferers, and I am sayign this to you! Put yourself in these poor, dying cats' place! How do you feel now? It all starts with that, like planting a seed of caring in your mind. It's like lending a helpful hand, or pointing someone in the right direction, because once you have experienced what these cats have, even through your imagination, then you have no way of turning back! You will ahve to help them! That may be dumb, but you'll see if you take a few seconds to do it! I don't really care what you do with this letter but I am doing my absolute very best to help these cats. I may be a minor, but I will fight for the fabulous creatures! I will keep fighting iuntil something is done about it! Youw ill hear more from me ifnothing is done about it soon. I promise you that! I promise you that! When ever I can (When i am an adult) I will fly to Singapore and do something, help them in some way! Some will go hoem with me, I will take as many as I can fit in 10 or even 20 pet taxis!
