RF & Optimization Engineer - ESCOTEL (Vendors: LUCENT, NERA & DMCS)
(From 07/2000 until now)- RF design and optimization engineer within the ESCOTEL GSM-900 operator. Responsible of UPWest -Southern,Central &Terrai region with 150 BTS sites.
Responsibilities include:
RF propagation studies for the initial design taken into account geomarketing inputs for Macrocells, µcells & repeaters layers.
Search area definition, potential candidate’s identification and evaluation according to the objectives by using coverage prediction tool (ASSET)
Worked closely with site acquisition agents
Give full RF specifications for new sites (Antenna type, azimuth, tilt, feeder type, etc.)
Frequency planning 900 Mhz including full SFH parameters (MA list, MAIO, HSN, etc...)
Capacity planning including GPRS dimensioning and special events.
Analyze traffic of cells, plan and implement capacity extension in time before congestion (blocking) using PMS.
Diagnose all RF related problems such as interference, Drop call, SD failure, HO failure, missing neighbors, etc...
Made optimization drive tests using TEMS tools of ERICSSON (TEMS - TEMS Investigation)
Analyzed Drive tests and made fine tunning by changing BSS parameters, antenna, tilt, azimuth, frequency, etc...
Have used MapInfo for site acquisition maps, vizualising drive tests, printing coverage and bestserver plots.
Involved in Dualband (900/1800 Mhz) propagation model calibration for the region of UPW & Punjab.
Trained new engineers in the prediction tools (ASSET) & in deployment methods and process.
Made documents for RF guidelines.
Made long term traffic forecasting for the entire network to determine the Budget for next years.
Made some business cases for coverage and capacity need with return on investisment study.
Leading Six-sigma project for Network Quality with impetus on Customer satisfaction.
