Surveyor (Conventional/GPS), Computer analyst - Offering a wide range of Survey, GPS, Computer Hardware and Programming, Oil Field, Drafting and Construction experience.
Work History:
Contract Technician - (July 1992 to date), providing survey and computer services to Engineering and Survey professions, including - Survey, GPS, GIS and drafting technician, computer software maintenance and custom programming. Can provide software for custom survey programs (in user installable modules), for navigation, geodetic transformations, GPS processing, astronomy, plane surveying, etc.
(Marine and hydrographic survey)
Oficina Tecnica Del Monte, Sistemas Avancados Geodesicos, C.A., Venezuela (Del Monte Technical Office, Advanced Geodesic Systems) -
Developed and maintained the Del Monte GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation package; participated in hydrographic surveys of the Caroni and Orinoco rivers; carried out hydrographic survey in the Orinoco Delta preparatory to British Petroleum and Exgeo starting a Seismic survey of the area; and acted as Geodetic engineer ensuring quality control of marine navigation by Wimpol Surveys (for the layout of an oil pipeline by Orimulsion Petroleum International), for Corpoven, the nationalized Venezuelan oil corporation.
Nortech Atlantic Surveys, Canada, east coast -
Acted as instrumentman (total station with serial interface and radio link) and GPS technician for the P.E.I. Fixed Link project under Strait Crossing Joint Venture. Navigated rig for LASMO offshore near Sable Island.
Carried out conventional and GPS surveys for the Halifax International Airport mapping project and the P.E.I. Fixed Link project under Strait Crossing Incorporated. Developed some software for internal systems.
(Seismic survey - 2D and 3D)
Seaforth Engineering -
In Midland Tx, U.S.A., acted as Survey QC (client representative), subcontracted to Exploration Geodesy, Inc. and Exxon Mobil.
In Chad, Central North Africa, acted as Survey QC, subcontracted to Exploration Geodesy, Inc. and Exxon Mobil. Acted as intermediary and double checked and supervised work of geophysical contractor's survey department (Western Geco). Developed independent software to verify contractor results and create a survey "audit trail" for inclusion with geophysical data.
DRS Seismic Contracting -
In Alberta, Canada foothills, Layout, offsetting/skidding, survey and control of a 2D heliportable seismic project. Conventional total station survey, vibra-seis and dynamite source used in mountainous terrain. Multi-Trex software used to process data.
Matai Surveys Ltd. -
In Ontario, Canada, Layout, offsetting/skidding, survey and control of a 2D seismic project (Lithoprobe 2000) for Geological Survey of Canada and Ontario Hydro. Fast static kinematic GPS used for survey, sometimes in a hostile canopy of forest. Vibra-seis vehicles for seismic source. GPSurvey software for data processing. Generated SEG files. Transport by 4x4 pickup truck.
Western Atlas/ Western Geophysical -
In Kuwait, Layout, QC and offsetting using GPS and data collector. Western's FACE software used for data processing. Generated reports, plots, and SEG files for "Dog Box" software. Supervised line clearing. "Marauder" vibra-seis vehicles used for seismic source.
Geomat-X Surveys -
In Alberta and Saskatchewan, northern Canada for Petro-Canada and Alter Energy Oil Companies, under Geco-Prakla, Harbinger, Impact, Western, etc. geophysical exploration companies. Multi-Trex software used for data collection and processing. Dynamite used for seismic source. Surveyed by total station in wooded areas, and GPS in open prairie prospects. Transport by 4x4 pickup, quad or snowmobile.
Arabian Geophysical and Survey (ARGAS) -
In Saudi Arabia, Layout, QC and offsetting using GPS and data collector. TRIMMAP software used for data processing, and Network Adjustment software used to compile primary and secondary control data for field. UNIX software and MVS packages used to QC the data (transitional IBM MVS system to UNIX/ORACLE product). Workstations were SUNSPARC, IBM PC and NT network.
(Construction survey)
ADW Engineering and Survey, Calgary, AB. Performed topographic and construction surveys. Laid out structures, established grades for buildings, roads, overpasses, etc. and measured cut and fill volumes (e.g. Shagganappi-Crowchild Interchange, Nortel Networks - McKnight Ave., Extension Interchange - 22X, Calgary LRT Extension etc.)
(Legal survey)
Alan Hunter Surveys, Kirk Hicks Surveys, Wallace, MacDonald and Lively Surveys, Rebecca Ritchie, N.S.L.S., and E.C. Keen Surveys of Stewiacke, NS, and All West Surveys Ltd. and Matai Surveys Ltd. of Calgary, AB. Performed conventional legal surveys (rodman, instrumentman, crew chief) using total station, theodolite, level, EDM, chain, etc. Established boundaries for private persons, oil companies (leases, pipeline right-of-ways). Laid out subdivision. Used registry system (NS) and Torenz system (AB). Searched deeds. Calculated traverse, area, marker layout, cut and fill, slope, etc. Drafted (board, AutoCAD, VersaCAD and Intergraph's Microstation CAD) and printed plans.
Survey Data Base Manager - Petroleum Development Oman, seconded by Nortech Surveys (Oman), (Sept. 1991 to July 1992), maintaining current survey computer systems, evaluating future purchases and developing new systems for the XTD (Exploration and Development) department.
Responsible for IBM PC and HP computers, HP printers and plotters, Wild Total Stations with GRE Interface and VAX used by Coastal (Head Office) and Interior (Field Offices) surveyors. Software was a crossection of IBM PC, HP and VAX Engineering and Surveying packages (many in-house products).
