Education & Qualifications
BA: I will graduate in July 2002 with a BA in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds. It is a four year course. My overall classification for the third year was 2:1. During the second year of my degree I studied at Capital Normal University, Beijing, China.
During the last year I have also taken courses in Information Technology and have acquired skills in Web Design (including HTML, Frames, Client-Side Image Maps, Cascading Style Sheets, Forms, and the application of Javascript), XML, Graphics on the PC, and Chinese Computing.

Work Experience & Previous Employment
August – September 2001: Data analysis for Sunstone Health & Leisure Club, London.

July 2001: I spent six weeks in Kunming, South West China teaching English and studying Chinese at Yunnan University.

September 2000: Data inputting for Informa Publishing, London. This involved entering information into a Microsoft Access database.

1999-2000: During this time I was studying in Beijing. I also taught English at a number of schools and took part in several recordings for English listening examination cassettes.


Summer 1999: Telephone research for the BRAD Group of EMAP Media.

February 1998 – June 1998: Teaching English at No.17 Middle School, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China.
This was during my Gap year and was organised by GAP Activity Projects.

September 1997 – January 1998: Junior Clerk at Comptons Solicitors, 90/92 Parkway, Regents Park, London NW1.

1995, 1996, 1997: Audio co-ordinator for the Sunstone Health and Leisure Club stand at the Stoke Newington Midsummer Festival.

Other skills and interests
I have often used Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP and MS-DOS and can also use an Apple Macintosh. I have experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Micrografx Designer and CorelDraw. I also have a good knowledge of HTML (see “education & qualifications”), XML, and Chinese computing. I am able to use the internet efficiently and can adapt to most software quickly. I have a typing speed of 62 words per minute.
This year I have combined my interests in East Asia with my knowledge of HTML in my role as webmaster of the Leeds University East Asian Research Society.

As well as studying and teaching in China I have also spent a lot of time travelling within the mainland, Macau and Hong Kong.

I have performed in the Children’s Chorus of the English National Opera and Royal College of Music. I have also been a member of the New London Children’s Choir during which time I performed in The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, The Purcell Room and the Opera Bastille in Paris as well as making recordings for BBC Radio.
I was also involved in the Children’s opera “Brundibar” for BBC Television.
