Hardware Design Engineer/R&D
APC designs, manufactures and services industrial motherboards and related
systems. Our basic business purpose is to create industrial products that
accelerate the advancement of knowledge and improve the effectiveness of
people and organizations. The company's products and services are used in
industrial market, medical applications, process control equipment and POS
systems.
Required:
BS/MS EE or related engineering degree or experience
2+ years of product design and development of x86 platform
Broad and in-depth knowledge of computer systems, including x86
architecture, PCI, ISA, SCSI and video.
Capable of using high speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
High initiative and flexibility to take on tough issues and commitment to
drive them to resolution.
We would desire somebody who has in-depth knowledge of PC server
systems, as well as having some knowledge of firmware and BIOS. If you
also have experience with EDA tools for signal analysis and timing, that
would be a bonus
Responsibilities:
You will work with development partners on the specification and design of high
and mid-range industrial hardware. This hardware is based on the latest
microprocessors and industry standard PC's chipsets. Do system and board-level
debug for CPU, cache, memory, video, SCSI, PCI, and ISA problems. Create
test plans to shake out new designs quickly and participate in the execution of
them as needed. You will communicate with cross-functional customers to
co-ordinate system level problem resolution. Assist in solving/debugging technical
problems as required.
