Troubleshot printer errors on printers (HP 5si mx; 4si,v). Viewed test pages and installed JetDirect card upgrade-chipsets. Addressed any user concerns about printers and printing. Also gathered software and information pertinent to testing and upgrading to Y2K compliant versions of programs users noted as ‘critical’ software. Documented findings for testing center of IT department to follow (i.e. script, address book or query files that needed to be saved and placed on new images).

Windows NT and Outlook, Installed Windows NT (with SP 3) and installed and setup Outlook 98 on ten Dell Optiplex Pentium II’s and installed and configured Outlook 98 for about 35 users. Added users to network and swapped out Token Ring for Ethernet cards. Also reconnected users’ PC’s from Token Ring hubs to Ethernet in wiring closets. Ghosted 14 PC’s with image from the network, booting them from Ghost/network boot up floppies. Installed and setup Outlook 98 and user specific icons in the All Users / Startup folders.

Laid out and tied down 1500 feet of cabling throughout plenum of renovated office building adhering to Electrical Inspector’s guidelines. Installed cabling, wall jack ends, wiring closet and patch panel in server room. Tested all connections using tone generators and probes, and modular cable testers.

Second Level Support, Implemented conversion from Windows 3.11 to Windows NT 4.0 on about 100 PC’s using Ghost software. In satellite office (in Philadelphia) converted documents from SoftSolutions to PC-Doc’s format using Cross-town; converted about 25 email accounts from MS Mail to Exchange mail using Exchange Server; Checked errors on HP 5si, 4si, 4000, and 8000 printers as well as cleared paper jams, checked configuration settings through test pages, cleaned out or dusted rollers, replaced rudimentary parts. Reconfigured hardware including replacing RAM, reconfiguring BIOS settings, installing NIC cards and drivers on several different models of Toshiba laptops and Toshiba 6200/7000 desktop PC’s. Provided Desktop support to Lawyers and staff of about 600 Windows NT 4.0 users. Software support included configuring and troubleshooting Outlook, DOCS Open, MS Internet Explorer 4.0, Westlaw, Server Manager (to share out and access user’s hard drives) and Reachout (remote PC control). Used Rconsole and ARCServe for limited backup duty. Worked in wiring closets and server room on rewiring project on a mainly Ethernet LAN. Helped in installation of CISCO 5000 switches.
