Mr. David is an independent consultant and a faculty member of the graduate schools of the UP Department of Chemical Engineering and the Ateneo Department of Environmental Science. As an independent consultant, he provides consulting, training and auditing services on ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000. He also provides services on pollution prevention, solid waste management, EIA/IEE preparation, energy management and environmental site assessment. As faculty member of the above institutions of learning, he offers courses on environmental management systems, clean technology, environmental auditing and solid waste management.
Prior to being an independent consultant, Mr. David was a Director of Arthur Andersen, Inc.’s Business Consulting Division and headed its environmental management and ISO practices in the country. At Arthur Andersen, he assisted the first local hotel get certified to ISO 14001. Mr. David was also a Senior Staff Assistant to the President of San Miguel Packaging Products, the packaging division of San Miguel Corporation, where he developed the Environmental Management Program for its 12 domestic operating facilities and tracked the progress of its environmental initiatives.
Mr. David is a licensed chemical engineer. He received his BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines in 1975 and 1981, respectively. He also completed all the academic requirements for a Ph. D in energy engineering from the same university in 1990. He is a life member of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers and a life and charter member of the Philippine Association of Environmental Assessment Professionals. He is also an accredited EMS auditor of Certification International Philippines and an EARA-registered Associate Environmental Auditor.
A couple of Mr. David’s recent activities involved the audit of the integrated environment, health and safety management system of 36 companies belonging to a conglomerate involved in communications, manufacturing, construction, power and water businesses, and the audit of the environment, health, safety and social management systems of 200 local garments manufacturers.
Mr. David has attended training courses both here and abroad on pollution prevention, solid waste management & recycling technology and EMS and environmental auditing. He has likewise lectured in seminars and workshops on ISO 14001, Pollution Management Appraisal, environmental-friendly packaging and Life Cycle Assessment.
