I am writing to express my interest in employment with your family as a NURSE/CAREGIVER. I am Ms. Arlene Rigon Llanillo, 37 years old, Registered Nurse, and previously employed at the Philippine Refugee Processing Center (PRPC), Manila, Philippines which is under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) serving the Indo - Chinese Refugees.
My duties includes, collecting data concerning patients health - illness status. Identifying and ranking diagnoses in order of priority. Takes vital signs, assesss the general status and render immediate intervention as needed. Refer to the physician accordingly. Formulating nursing diagnoses and planning nursing care. Considering objectives or goals of nursing care, identifying alternatives and selecting measure that is most likely to meet objectives. Putting nursing care plans into action, carry out physicians order and identify response and common problems related to nursing interventions. Promote comfort, provides safety environment and restore health equilibrium. Use of aseptic technique like proper hand washing, gloving. Use of bedpan : regular and urinal. Proper hygiene: partial bath, shower tub. Feeding patient : with Nasogastric tube. Giving an enema: cleansing, retention. Measuring intake and output, weighing. Applying hot and cold compress. Collection of specimens : urine, sputum, stools, blood. Care of indwelling catheters and other tubes. Preparation of patients for surgery : major, minor and other diagnostic procedures. Care of dying patient. Care of dead patient. Isolation : strict, wound and respiratory reverse. Charting : record significant findings accurately.
These are my Nursing Skills ;
· Arrest : can initiate CPR, prepare medicines and actively participate
· Medications : unit dose system, dosage calculations, piggybacks, IV push
· IV therapy : calculating rate
· Respiratory Therapy : Nasal-tracheal oral suction, oxygen equipment
· Renal : Catheters- foley insertion/removal/irrigation
· Neuro & Orthopedic : cast care, Neurological checks
· Precautions : Isolation, seizure
· Others : decubitus care, sterile & wet dressing
· Educate and encourage patients the importance of participating in the treatment. Orient them as to the nature of occurrence, prevention & control. Emphasize to seek medical assistance whenever necessary.
· Comply with the regulations, secure written consent in case of operations.
The Philippine Refugee Transit Center Medical Clinic operates on a secondary level of health care delivery and cases we deem needing further evaluation and management considering the limited facilities which we gave are referred to higher hospital. We provides medical care to Indo - Chinese Refugees, PRTC staff and dependents and voluntary agencies. I have experienced handling newborn up to adult.
Furthermore, I have two daughters and a son. I personally take care of them since birth. I do give daily bath with mild soap and water, daily sunlight exposure, cord care using 70% alcohol, burp baby after every feeding. Introduction of food starts with cereal. Wean them from breast to cup. Keeping them safe all the time, like do not leave them unattended. I exposed them to various environmental sounds like rattle, musical toys. Play games with them like hide and seek, peek a boo. Help my eldest do her assignment. She is a consistent honor. From time to time also, some of my neighbor do asked me to take care of their children while they are away .
Thus, It would be a great privilege and honor to apply as Nurse/Caregiver in your family. I know that this will provide me an opportunity to work in a new environment, mold my knowledge and capabilities and be of invaluable service to you. I can be able to promote health, prevent illness and render total nursing care to your family afflicted with physical and mental problems utilizing the nursing process. I believe that my past experiences has equipped me with enough knowledge and skills needed for the job that is being offered. Rest assure that I am trustworthy, hardworking and known to handle work efficiently.
