WORK EXPERIENCE
August 2001 – January 2002, MGS International Trading
·Senior Manager, Sales. I have handled sales for the major developers and dealers. We are involved in the selling of construction and building materials some of which are being manufactured by the group. I was asked to be transferred to this team to train me in sales and marketing in preparation for a meatier role in general management. In addition, I made the feasibility study of putting up of a retail distribution system for the whole MGS group which I would eventually head.
March 1998 –July 2001, MGS Corporation
·Senior Manager, Head of Finance--Treasury and Credit and Collection Department. Directly reporting to the President of MGS group, I managed these combined teams to oversee and made sure the effective inflow and outflow of cash, projections of cash flows. I was directly reporting to the President of MGS Group. My accomplishments include on-line communication with the bank, automation of daily cash positions, and computerization of Credit and Collection. My job also included regularly negotiating with banking institutions on the interest income rates for fund placements. (Year 2000-2001).
·Management Committee Senior Member. This team which is composed of the group’s president, division and department heads, decides consensusly on administrative matters, company policies, rules and regulations, strategies, programs and plans. I was also part of the team which is composed of non-operational departments (accounting and HR) that regularly oversees the administrative matters of the group.
·Officer-in-charge. Whenever the President is out-of-town or out-of-the country I would be tasked to be the officer-in-charge of the MGS group.
·I was in-charge of putting up a formal Credit and Collection department which includes formulating its systems and policies when the group actively marketed their products commercially (MGS used to serve its sister companies only). I made sure the effective collection of accounts whether current, delinquent or legal. I was also heavily involved in the legal proceedings of problem accounts. (Year 1998-2001)
·Project Manager, Computerization of the MGS Group using Microsoft Great Plains Software. I was head of the steering committee that lead to the computerization of MGS Companies. I was actively involved in the negotiations with the implementing team of the Microsoft Great Plains Software, the Global Implementation Systems. I lead the team composing of the accounting head and team leaders in the selection process of the software and negotiation with the Software vendor on price and man-days to use resulting in some hundred thousands of savings for the company. The team was also in charge of accounting and operational systems analysis to prepare the roadworks for computerization. When I left the company, I am proud to say that the accounting and credit and collection teams of construction and ready-mix concrete manufacturing groups has been computerized. On top of this, I helped organize a formal IT Department for the MGS group. (Year 2000-2001)
·Actively helped in the campaign of the Senator during the May 2001 elections. I am proud to say that due to my honesty and integrity, some campaign funds were entrusted to me and I helped oversee the printing and distribution of sample ballots around the nation. We, employees, are accustomed to the hard work involved in the election campaigns. The Senator has been running and winning since 1992 when he first won as a Congressman in the district of Las Piñas and Muntinlupa.
1992-1995, 1996-1998, MGS Readymix, Inc. (Formerly known as Metromix)
·Starting as Supervisor to eventually become the Operations Manager of the Ready-mix group, I was chosen to oversee the operations of manufacturing of concrete mix. Although I was not a civil engineer, I have lead the expansion of the group from the first plant to the seventh plant in 1998. I have handled at least 20 professional employees and 100 technical people. As operations manager my functions on top of managing the production include negotiating with costs of major product component, and overseeing the purchasing, repairs and maintenance, personnel matters regarding members of my team and sales and marketing. I was fully responsible for the result of operation from sales up to the bottomline of these seven (7) plants.
·It was during my term as operation manager that we actively seek commercial accounts to sell and market concrete mix. We used to sell for our sister companies only (C & P Group).
·Concurrently, in 1993 up to 1995, I help put up a and then managed a Crushing Plant, a plant that crushes rocks to become gravel and sand materials.
·Due to the absence of a manufacturing head, I was tasked to head also MGS Besser Blocks, manufacturer of load-bearing concrete blocks for a short while pending the hiring of a technical manufacturing head for this division.
·My task also included the management of the Trucking business, the hauling of gravel and sand to various Manufacturing Plants of MGS and projects of C and P Homes.
1995-1996, Camella International Limited (Also an MB Villar Group)
·As Marketing Manager, I was tasked by our C & P Homes (affiliated with MGS) to open their first Sales and Marketing Arm in Hong Kong to sell Philippine properties to Overseas Filipino Workers. I helped set up the company and system. I went back home after putting up the business to resume my task at MGS.
