Brief History: Leaving school at 16, I enrolled on Wakefield College’s Leisure & Recreation Course. However, I never completed the course, as I was offered full time employment at one of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council’s (WMDC) Leisure Centres. I stayed there for four years, until the age of 20, when I decided to go abroad to broaden my horizons. I lived and worked in South East Asia for 8 years, returning to UK in January 2000. Once in Hong Kong, I took a job in the Corrosion Engineering industry, and quickly progressed up the promotional ladder.
1988 – 1992: WMDC, England.
Employed as Leisure Attendant, chiefly at Knottingley Sports Centre, however I covered at other Centres throughout the Authority from time to time.
In 1992, I gained employment with Advance Specialist Treatment Engineering Limited (ASTEL) in Hong Kong. Initially employed as an applicator, by 1994 I held position of Production Supervisor, and was responsible for the planning of my work, the organisation of my workforce, on site supervision, liasing and coordinating work with other Contractors and trades, and all related paperwork / record keeping that came with it.
In 1997 I was again promoted to Project Coordinator, and was responsible for the managing of entire Contracts, except the commercial side. I was even running three jobs simultaneously for a while. By 1998 I was being sent abroad to manage Projects.
