GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assess the cardio-respiratory needs of patient. Provides diagnostic, therapeutic, educational and clinical support in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patient with cardio-respiratory compromise at the intensive care unit, in and out patients ward and pulmonary laboratory. Support the academic health sciences center by providing and sharing knowledge with families ( pulmonary rehabilitation program), interns and trainees ( three months training program in respiratory care ). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Renders respiratory therapy procedure/treatment such as aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy and suctioning
§ Perform pediatric pulmonary function test
§ Interpret spirometry result
§ Teach/instruct pulmonary rehabilitation techniques such as breathing/coughing exercise, proper use of inhalational devices, and postural drainage
§ Responsible for pulse oximetry monitoring
§ Administer oxygen therapy either by low flow or high flow delivery devices
§ Assist in intubation and extubation
§ Assist in performing bronchoscopy
§ Responsible in setting/troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators such as Horus, Galileo, SLEHFO+, Infant Star, NMI Breeze/Wave, Bear5, Bear1, 6400ST, Puritan Benett 7200,VIP bird, BIPAP, BP200, Bear Cub, Sechrist, Alladin, Infrasonic
