Hi,

Here is a brief description of our family. Please reply if you're interested. Please be sure to mention this site.

Thank again.

Below please find a brief narrative of our family and neighborhood. Of course, there are many more details to share; however, this is a good start.

Joann is 34 years old; she is the mother of three boys ages Marco, 17, John 10 and Paul 2. Joann works in New York City. Paul is 35 years old; he is the father in the household, he also works in New York. Joann & Paul leave the house at 7 am weekday mornings and we return home by 6 p.m. in the evening. Our current childcare provider has full charge while we are away.

Marco is the oldest of the three boys; he was 17 on November 6, 1999. Marco is a senior in High School; he is college bound in September 2000. The AuPair has no responsibility for Marco.

John is the middle child; he celebrated his 11th birthday on February 10, 2000. John is in fifth grade. The school is located one mile from our home, the AuPair is asked to drive John to school each morning. John is involved in sports and has a few days a week where he stays at school until 4 PM because of the sports activities. John is also learning to play the Trumpet and is required to be at school early a few days a week for the lessons.

Paul Jr. was born on August 21, 1997 and we are all thrilled to have him. He will be the primary responsibility of the AuPair. Paul is a normal toddler who is busy exploring his world. The AuPair should be energetic and willing to engage in learning as a play medium for Paul. We have many educational devices in our home that we will ask the AuPair to be diligent in introducing them to Paul each day. These include picture books, letters, colors and things of the like, which are age appropriate for Paul.

The aupair will be asked to provide healthy meals, provide gentle and loving care. In the summer we join a local swim club, John is on the swim team and attends every weekday about 11 am. We ask the aupair to prepare lunches and head to the pool each day with John and Paul. There John participates in swim instruction while the aupair is busy keeping Paul safe and cool from the sun.

After the pool, the boys need baths and things should be prepared for the next day, towels, bathing suits, etc.

In most instances, the AuPair will work 7 am to 6 p.m., 5 days per week (Mon. through Fri) and have weekends off. However, there may be times when this schedule will be altered and we will need the AuPair to work on the weekend. For example, Paul jrs. grandparents have made it a habit to take Paul on Wednesday; in this case, the AuPair has the day off. We usually provide enough notice in advance and the AuPair should not anticipate this as regularity.

The AuPair must have previous experience caring for an active toddler. We would like to stress that during Paul’s waking hours the AuPair will be expected to care for him and stimulate him with toys and activities that we will provide and suggest.

QUALITIES:

- We would like our AuPair to enjoy the home and family life as our family spends most of our free time at home.
- She should like children of various ages and particularly have prior experience caring for toddlers; she should be aware of the commitment which she is making and the amount of work involved.
- She should take into consideration that our children are at an impressionable age and she should try to be as much of a role model as possible for them.
- We are a Catholic family and ask that our AuPair not have any parts of her body pierced with the exception of her ear lobs.
- We require that our AuPair be a non-smoker, non-drug user and refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages during weekdays only because we would like her to be at her best when she is caring for the baby during the day.
- We are a family that eats dinner together each evening between 6 and 7 PM. We will welcome our AuPair to the dinner table anytime that she plans to join us. We will ask her however to let us know if she has other plans so that we are not expecting her.

OUR HOUSE AND OUR NEIGHBORHOOD:

Our house is located in New Jersey (one hour from New York City by train, bus or car). Our house is a five bedroom center hall colonial with a lovely fireplace, screened in front porch and enough room for our family and the AuPair to live and grow. The AuPair will have her own room (it is small) with a view of the front yard. The AuPair will be provided with a twin size bed, closet, dresser and a television with cable TV.

Our neighborhood is in a lovely suburb in New Jersey. Among other things, too many to mention, we have several swim clubs, a YMCA, bowling alleys, famous Malls 5 minutes away and best of all we have many AuPairs in the surrounding area for our AuPair to meet and spend time with.

The adjoining towns provide for excellent dining, good shopping, movie theatres and several Universities. Our AuPair will be given the opportunity to view the campus facilities, and enjoy library privileges at the universities because she will be a resident here in the neighborhood.

SALARY

We are currently on our fourth AuPair. We hire AuPairs from a local agency; they come to us with a legal J-1 visa and are paid a weekly salary of $139.05, plus free room and board.

We are offering a live in status with $150 per week salary (this is negotiable with housekeeping for family). WE will considering splitting air fare down the road, but we cannot pay air fare up front as we are not offered any guarantees. I’m sure you understand.

We are looking for someone who will make a commitment of at least 18 to 24 months or more.
If you are interested, please e-mail me at newjerseyaupair@hotmail.com. Non-smokers only.
