Responsible in sourcing and purchase of electronic parts, hardware, mechanical, packaging and components in the most economical way in any part of the world, as directed by the Purchasing Supervisor. Develops specifications and performance test requirements to facilitate procurement of parts and supplies for the manufacture of company products. In charge of recording, filing, and maintaining data related to materials and purchases made.
Major Responsibilities
1. Coordinates purchasing activities with planning, engineering departments and other departments involved to maintain inventory at planned level.
2. Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and availability of parts and equipment.
3. Consults with engineering personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for manufacturing and testing. Investigates potential suppliers and recommends those most desirable.
4. Interviews supplier representatives regarding specifications, costs, inspection, and similar problems relating to parts and equipment.
5. Arranges and participates in conferences between suppliers and engineers, purchasers, inspectors, and other company personnel to facilitate material inspection, substitution, standardization, rework, salvage, utilization, and economical procurement of parts and supplies used in the manufacture of company products.
6. Obtains and follow up quotation from suppliers for parts for purchase.
7. Updates and maintains the components/vendor database.
8. Initiates value engineering proposals, as applied.
9. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
10. Prepares reports/documents necessary to perform the above functions.
11. Prepares/Updates Bill of Material (BOM) spreadsheet extracted from original BOM documents of customer for costing.
12. Performs for proper housekeeping chores to keep the purchasing area neat, orderly and presentable.
13. Performs other functions as maybe required by the superior after due training/qualification.
Minimum Requirement
1. Engineering degree, preferably in Electronics and Communications Engineering.
2. At least one (1) year experience as Manufacturing Engineer, preferred but not necessary.
