Title : Walden's Paths
Period : Aug 2001 - till date
Role : Team Leader
Responsibilities : Analysis and design, development, testing.
The Project :
The Walden's Paths project involves developing tools that allow K-12 educators to organize World-Wide Web material for their students' use. The Internet provides students with a wealth of multimedia materials that must be tailored before they can be used in the classroom. Walden's Paths allows teachers to make use of these materials by creating directed paths that students can follow to obtain a cohesive view of the collected material, browse off the path freely, and then return to the path.
Currently the work is going on to detect the volatile nature of the web pages that are in the path and building systems to automatically figure out the change in the pages. The system detects the context of the page on which it has been written and then calculate whether the context of the page has been changed in the course of time.
Hardware : Pentiums
Operating System : Windows NT, Unix
Languages : Java

Title : Enterprise Messaging Middleware
Period : Feb 2001 - July 2001
Role : Team Leader
Responsibilities : Analysis and design, development, testing, Status reporting, client liaison
The Project :
The middleware group of AEFA uses message-oriented middleware that enables integrating several applications running on different platforms using hub and spoke architecture. It uses IBM's MQSeries and MQSI. MQSeries contains features, which assures message delivery between various applications. MQSI 1.1 Formatter transforms and converts the message and RuleEngine applies rules to it, and checks which application wants the message. MQSI 2.0.1 uses message broker type solution, which has in
addition to transformation and routing of message to one or more destination, has functionalities to store and retrieve information from database for messages, publish messages to other applications based on topics and content, creation of plug-in node and parsers. My role in the group involved designing and implementing message flows for various functionalities, creating formats and rules in MQSI 1.1/2.0.1 for online application request and reply. The request was from a Siebel application
sending XML messages, which was trasformed to EBCDIC and sent to the back-end (Mainframes). Reply from the back-end in EBCDIC format was transformed to XML and sent to the front-end, creating MQ objects for the system and providing testing support.

Operating System : Windows NT, Unix

Title : Socrates-General Motors Intranet
Period : August 2000 - December 2000
Role : Team Leader
Responsibilities : Status reporting, client liaison, analysis and design, development, testing
The Project :
General Motors is now moving to convert all it’s data available on the intranet to XML. All the data that were previously in HTML form is now converted to XML so that it can be accessed from anywhere across the globe. The data can be accessed either from any browser or from any touch tone phone. The Unified messaging tools can convert the data available (text form) to speech and then it can be heard from anywhere in USA (presently available) by dialing a 1-800 number. This project aims at
converting all the HTML data available on the intranet to XML so that they can be used by the Unified messaging tools.
Hardware : Pentiums
Operating System : Windows NT
Languages : XML, HTML
Special Software : XML Spy, Xsplit.
Work Location : General Motors Corporation, Detroit, USA
Title : Collaborative Knowledge Management Systems
Period : July 2000 - December 2000
Role : Team Leader
Responsibilities : Status reporting, client liaison, analysis and design, development, testing
The Project :
General Motors collects lot of information; this information should be organized in a well design fashion, so that all the documents related to the particular topic should be placed in one place. This knowledge management is web-enabled system and user can able to access this information anywhere across the globe. This project aims at collaborative knowledge management. In this collaborative knowledge management, users can comment, edit, modify documents based on their privileges.
This collaborative knowledge management system provides work-flow, check in and checkout feature for the each document. In this collaborative knowledge management, user can able to subscribe to any web page or document and get notified whenever a change occur to that page. User can also able to customize their personal pages.

Title : Scada Handler
Period : February 2000 - July 2000
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
The Scada Handler is a wrapper around the Scada Interface. The Scada Interface acts as a client to an OPC compliant SCADA system. It also contains a COM server to serve the requests of the incoming client calls. The incoming calls to the Scada Interface system are modified and further sent to the Scada system. The same is done when data comes back from Scada system. The Scada Handler is responsible for all the calls to and from the Scada Interface to the end User.
The user has to call the functions in the Scada Handler to get and/or set data from or to the Application. The SCADA System mentioned over here could be any OPC Compliant Scada System. Intellution Fix 7.0, Plantscape, etc… are the OPC compliant Scada systems available in the market.

Title : GUI for APCSW
Period : January 2000 - February 2000
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
The GUI for the APCSW Tool was developed to get and set the Tuning Parameters to/from the Application. The GUI is a COM client and it calls the exposed Functions of a DCOM server to get and set the data to and from the Database. The FlexGrid control was used to develop the GUI.

Title : Event Code Generator
Period : December 1999 - January 2000
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
The tool APC Tools Software would be put into use in a Process Industry. The process engineer has to configure some rules and conditions that would be executed by the module. To make this task easy a User interface was designed and implemented in MS Excel. The inputs provided by the user in excel sheet were processed by a macro and corresponding C++ code was generated.

Title : Real Time Control Systems Application Database
Period : August 1999 - December 1999
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
This is the Real time Database designed for use by various Real Time Control Systems. The Database is having arrays of Variables (Process Variables, Control Variables, and Manipulated Variables Used in Control System Applications). Each of the variables is having a set of attributes like the VarName, HiLimit, LoLimit, etc. The attributes can be set or get from outside individually or also in the group. There is a provision that the Database can be accessed from multiple threads, and so synchronization is properly taken care.

Title : GUI for SDE
Period : April 1999 - August 1999
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
This is the User Interface (UI) developed for the project SDE. It's the UI developed to enter the various tuning parameters for the applications that are developed to optimize the different Real Time Control Systems. The user can enter the values of the tuning parameters from the UI and can tune the application. The FlexGrid Control was used to develop the GUI.

Title : Reading and Writing Various Graphics File Formats
Period : October 1998 - April 1999
Role : Team Member
Responsibilities : Designing, Coding and Testing
The Project :
The project was to read and write the various Graphics file formats like TIFF, JPEG, and BMP. The Project reads the Graphic files and displays them on the Screen. If the user is reading a file of one format then he can save the file in any-other format. The Image data after being read are being stored in a buffer and it is written again into the required file format.
Used the TIFF and the JPEG library, written the code using the functions given over there to accomplish the task of reading and writing the image files. Then the code was tested for different image files of different formats.
