OBJECTIVE A position as an Engineering Geologist
HIGHLIGHTS
· 17 years of experience with rock mass classification and design support, dam safety and inspection, site investigation and characterization, core and soil logging/sampling, geotechnical testing and mapping, slope stability studies, construction material evaluation and report writing.
Published two technical papers in international/national journals titled:
-Terbela Dam: A discussion on the discrepancy between the laboratory testing and
In-service behavior of Indus aggregate in cement concrete. Dam Engineering Vol. V, Issue 1, London.
-Application of Slope Stability Probability Classification (SSPC) system to a cut slope on Falset Road, province of Tarragona, Spain-A case study, 3rd Pakistan Geological Congress Peshawar, Pakistan.
RELEVANT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
§ Construction Inspection and Monitoring
-Performed construction inspection and monitoring of caisson foundation and spread footings for Rapid Transit Project 2000, one of the biggest civil engineering project of British Columbia.
-Conducted construction inspection and monitoring of piles in Holman Island, North West Territory.
§ Site Investigations
-Carried out site investigation/characterization for medium and large dams, multistory buildings and cement plants.
-Carried out site investigation/characterization for multi story buildings in permafrost, Yellowknife, NT.
· Geotechnical Mapping
-Carried out geotechnical mapping for civil structures of 15 hydroelectric projects.
-Performed hazard zonation mapping of reservoir, 20 km in length of Abbasian Hydroelectric Project.
· Slope Stability Studies
- Conducted geotechnical mapping to evaluate slope stability problems and suggested remedial measures over a 5 km portion of a major motorway.
- Performed slope stability studies of 7-km access road for Golen Gol hydroelectric project.
-Accomplished geotechnical mapping to evaluate slope stability problem and suggested remedial measures at power channel and sump.
-Carried out slope stability studies

· Rock Mass Classification and Design Support
- Executed rock mass classification and design support for tunnels, surge shafts and caverns of 8 major hydroelectric projects which fall in the Himalayas and Karakoram Mountains. The tunnels range in length from 3 km to 22 km and these pass through complex geologic conditions.
-Prepared a comparison report on use of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) vs. drill and blast methods for a 22-km long tunnel, that passes through alternating hard and soft rock units. The tunnel falls in close proximity of a regional active fault.
-Evaluated the support system proposed by NORCONSULT for one of the major tunnel.
Comprehensive Planning of Hydropower Resources
-Carried out comprehensive planning of hydropower resources and identified more than 300 small and medium sized hydroelectric schemes in the North of Pakistan. The study included desk studies, aerial photo interpretation, reconnaissance field visits, identification of most suitable dam sites and pertinent civil structures.
· Construction Material Survey
-Carried out construction material survey for 10 hydroelectric projects.
-Supervised excavation of test pits. Executed evaluation of construction material for Pingston Hydro Project, Revelstocke, British Columbia.
· Bore Hole Logging, In-situ Testing and Reporting
-Executed core and soil logging and performed in-situ geotechnical and rock-mechanical testing.
