Worked as Consultant, for a project of Robonetics pvt. ltd., in the Research & Development Department of CREAX Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore.
Duration: 2 Months(1st Oct. 2002 to 30th Nov. 2002)
Responsibilities:Designing & Implementing Robot Processing Unit(RPU), which included writing VHDL Description, Simulation, Synthesis, Configuring FPGA and some part of PCB Designing. Also conducted research on the applicability of SONAR in Mobile Robots for Obstacle Detection.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

* Adjudged as the Best Outgoing student of the VLSI System Design Department of M.S.Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies.

* Awarded first prize, in paper presentation, for the paper entitled PLL Basics, presented at the Technical Symposium at M.S.Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, Bangalore.

PROJECTS WORKED ON:

* Robot Processing Unit (RPU)

Company: ROBONETICS Pvt. Ltd.
Duration: 2 months.

Development of a RPU (PCB Board) with FPGA (SPARTAN II) chip, Analog to Digital Converters, Multiplexers, Voltage Drivers and Regulators, Motor Drivers and Connectors on it. RPU is the central processing unit of the Robot and is in constant interaction with other PCB boards mounted in the body of the Robot.


* Spread Spectrum Wireless Transceiver

Institute: M.S.Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies
Duration: 2 Month

The Transceiver worked on Frequency Hopped Spread Spectrum technique. BFSK is used for Modulating the transmitted signal. Gold Codes as PN Sequence for spreading the signal at the transmitter. Convolutional Coding and Viterbi decoding is used for Error control coding. The project is implemented in ISM Frequency band and according to 3G standards. VHDL and EldoSpice is used for writing code, ModelSim as the simulation tool, LeonardoSpectrum as the synthesis tool and IC Station as the back end tool.


* Image Compression

Institute: M.S.Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies
Duration: 1 Month

The project incorporated a 8*8 pixel matrix, which is converted from R, G, B to Y, Cr, Cb matrix. The matrix is then reduced by performing DCT, Thresholding, Quantization, Zig-Zag Scanning and finally RLC Coding is done. The project is implemented according to JPEG Standard. VHDL has been used as the coding language and the whole code is simulated on ModelSim.


* Third Generation Mobile Communication
(cdma-1, cdma-2000, w-cdma)

Institute: Dr. K.N.Modi Institute of Engineering & Technology.
Duration: 1 Month.

The project incorporated an extensive study and contained a detailed description of all the 3G communication techniques as specified by IMT-2000 Standard such as CDMA-2000, W-CDMA, SC-CDMA, DECT, EDGE. It also describes various features, advantages, and implementation of 3G communication techniques in the present scenario.


PAPER PRESENTATION:

Presented a technical paper entitled PLL Basics, at the Technical Symposium at M.S.ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, Bangalore.


INDUSTRIAL TRAINING:

Accomplished four weeks industrial training at Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), Naini, Allahabad, in the Research & Development Department.
