Dissertation Work

M.Phil: Effect of Tricyclic antidepressants on Ca2+ATPase in synaptosomes and microsomes of Rat brain.
This study was performed by treating the synaptosomes and microsomes with tricyclic antidepressants drug at concentration of 5 mM to 500 mM, a change in the Ca2+ATPase activity was observed. A change in Ca2+ATPase activity may be due to the drug induced changes in membrane dynamics depends on the net charge on the drug molecules.

M.Sc: A study on the effect of resolution on the geometric parameters of the molecule.
The bond length, bond angles and dihedral angles show variation but at random in their values at different resolutions.

Techniques Known :Isolation of Subcellular organelles (mitochondria, synaptosomes and microsomes) from rat brain, estimation of protein concentration, SDS Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in proteins and DNA characterization of subcellular organelles i.e., SDH assay, NADPH – Cytochrome c reductase assay, Na+ - K+ ATPase assay, estimation of enzyme kinetics of SDH.

Isolation of DNA, Denaturation and renaturation of DNA, spectrophotometer, spectrofluorometer, to study the phase transition in liposome, measuring the change of membrane potential in PC12 cells, Ca2+ATPase assay.
