Project Details
i. Project Title :- Duct Auto Routing System (DARS)
Front End :- C with Solaris / IRIX Operation System
Client :- ASD-OPD Suit ( http://www.asdglobal.com )
Team Size :- 2
Duration :- Currently working on
My Role :- Analyzing, Documenting, Database Designing, Coding, Testing and Error handling
Duct Router is being design to automate the routing of 3D cable tray networks and secondary conduit pipes in Nuclear Power Plant. The tray routing problem, wherein layout of one or more trays has to be decided in a 3-dimensional space while satisfying several different types of constraints, has attracted significant attention recently. Several attempts have been made in the recent past to automate tray routing for the obvious benefits of:
§ Reducing man-hours and the associated labor costs,
§ Producing more systematic designs, and
§ Reducing the time needed to generate practical designs.
Primary modules of DARS system is:
· A 3D Free space Cell Decomposition Module to efficiently discretize the Free Space into cuboidal volumes with a minimum of cells.
· An efficient cell connectivity graph generator which serves as the basis for the A* Search of least-cost channel identification between the from-to locations.
· A proven A* Search Engine for finding least-cost paths given design constraint rules, cost factors and shape constraints.
· Extensive knowledge criteria employed during routing that captures knowledge about such diverse items as spacing requirement and wall penetration.
· A powerful “CLIPS” Expert system Shell to encode the design constraint knowledge.
The problem of routing of trays is highly complex because of the limited free space available inside a plant that must be shared with other routable entities like ducts and pipes, in additions to trays. In such a constrained environment, the route must also meet restrictions on minimum distance between consecutive bends, minimum and maximum distance from civil structures, required bend radius, and so on.
ii. Project Title :- Network License Management System
Front End :- Visual C++ 6.0 (ATL)
Client :- ASD-OPD Suit ( http://www.asdglobal.com )
Team Size :- 2
Duration :- 6 Months
My Role :- Coding, Testing and Error handling
Network License Management System is being used to authorize the valid use of ASD-OPD Product. It is basically a file base locking system. This system consists of a license server residing on a machine of a network, most likely a server machine. From this machine, the license across the network will be managed. So, any client connected to this network will have access to ASD product, providing there is a valid license identified by the manager. When a client requests to run a program that is part of the license package it will search the network for the license manager. This manager will then determine whether a valid license exists to launch this program. The license manager will refer to a license file provided by ASD. This license file contains all information regarding the specific clients license agreement, including number of licenses and types of products. This license manager will also be coded to work on one machine only (System specific), to prevent one manager being installed on multiple networks.
iii. Project Title :- OptiPlant / Pipe Router
Front End :- Visual C++ 5.0, Open GL, Open Inventor
Back End :- Oracle
Client :- ASD-OPD Suit ( http://www.asdglobal.com )
Team Size :- 4
Duration :- Three Months
My Role :- Development / Integration / Enhancement of OptiPlant and Pipe Router
OptiPlant is a 3D graphical software, used to develop Chemical / Petrochemical / Nuclear / Thermal Power plant. Plant can be design using the primitives equipment and structure. Using Pipe Router pipe routes between two equipments or structure and calculate the minimal path through the plot plan. We can generate the report of the cost and material of the pipe structure and equipment. Primitive for pipe like elbows, reducer, and valve draws automatically using Optiplant. Optiplant has many functionality like merging two or more plot plans, printing the plot plan, Importing equipments from external file like text or Excel files, exporting the plot plan in .Dxf format (for AutoCAD), Drawing Annotations, and zooming the plot plan. Plot plan can be viewed in four ways ( Front View, Right View, Top View and Free View).
iv. Project Title :- Fire Proof Manager, Tour Watch Manager
Front End :- Visual C++ 2.5 , Visual C++ 6.0
Back End :- Oracle , SQL-Server, Sybase, Ms Access
Client :- TISCOR (USA) ( http://www.tiscor.com )
Team Size :- 8
Duration :- Sixteen Months
My Role :- Development / Integration of Four Master Modules these are Parts, Resolution Item, Cause Category and Request Category. I am responsible for Coding, Debugging and Error handling of these modules.
The FireProof Manager fire and safety equipment management system helps insure a safe facility. It does this by keeping detailed records of inspection, maintenance, testing, and other tasks performed on fire and safety equipment. This information is used to keep management and insurance companies informed or to make important decisions such as replacing equipment with a history of problems. FireProof Manager uses two computers: an IBM-compatible PC and a portable bar code scanner to do the following:
§ Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment.
§ Establish task performance schedules group locations and equipment into zones and routes.
§ Allowing the bar code scanner to direct inspectors on their tours
§ Record task performance.
§ Generate work orders and track work order completion.
§ Track overdue and upcoming tasks for equipment.
§ Update the current location of equipment.
Information about inspectors, locations, equipment, and task performance schedules is maintained on a PC. This information is sent from the PC to the bar code scanner.
Inspectors perform tours of your facility, scanning task, location and equipment bar codes. The bar code scanner automatically records the date and time the bar codes are scanned. The condition of equipment is recorded by scanning incident bar codes. Any new locations or equipment encountered during a tour can be also be recorded with the bar code scanner.
When a tour is complete, the information is transferred from the bar code scanner to the PC. FireProof Manager processes the information, producing tour reports and updating equipment information.
v. Project Title :- Telecentre ICSCFG
Front End :- Visual C++
Back End :- Oracle 8.0
Client :- Rauland-Borg Corporation (USA)
Team Size :- 2
Duration :- Five Months
My Role :- Coding, Testing and Error handling
Programming a Telecenter® ICS system requires the ICSCFG configuration software. The ICSCFG is a Windows-based configuration and diagnostic program that runs on a personal computer, uses a mouse, pull-down menus, and comes with extensive help screens. It communicates with the ICS system (model ICSBASE or ICSBASERM) through a serial data connection. This connection can either be a direct connection to the system, or through a pair of modems.
ICSCFG enables a user to:
§ Edit configuration files off-line (for later downloading to Telecenter ICS).
§ Retrieve memory contents from the Telecenter ICS system for editing, diagnostics, and archiving.
§ Monitor Telecenter ICS system activity and acquire its statistics.
§ Remotely analyze Telecenter ICS system performance.
§ Access Telecenter ICS system for feature activation and troubleshooting.
vi. Project Title :- TCP GetSite, TCP PutSite, TCP WebServer, BkgConsole
Front End :- Visual Basic 6.0, Visual C++ 6.0
Client :- Dart Communication (USA) ( http://www.dart.com )
Team Size :- 1
Duration :- Six Months
My Role :- Coding, Testing and Error handling
TCP Control is developed by Dart Communication that can be used to build web-based applications from within Visual Basic or any other environment that supports ActiveX controls. Using Dart controls one can use the power of main-stream compiled languages to build robust web-based applications. The Dart Control supports both non-secure and secure connections allowing highly sensitive data to be transferred without worry. These Controls can be used to build integrated web-based applications containing dynamic content. My part of work was to make such an application, which can demonstrate the power of TCP Controls.
