Experience
Research Student (Wrote report and proposal)
(i) “Hydrogen Peroxide bleaching in recycled pulp and paper mill: a case study in Thailand in Thailand”. (Asian Institute of Technology Thailand. Dec, 2000- July, 2001)
 Lab scale pulping and Hydrogen peroxide bleaching of old newspaper collected from mill.
 Researched and identified problem related to lower final brightness of paper, higher chemical consumption and TDS load in waste water to be discharged.
 Investigated the optimum peroxide /sodium hydroxide ratio for hydrogen peroxide bleaching to reduce effluent and better process control in the activated sludge plant.
 Comparison of process water and wastewater characteristics (BOD5, COD, TDS, and pH) collected after lab scale and mill bleaching by lab analysis.
 Evaluation of WWTP to optimize its efficiency by analyzing treatment efficiency of each process
Accomplishments/Results
 Optimization of NaOH and Na2Sio3 to achieve required final brightness and reduce chemical consumption and finally TDS load.
 Adjustment in the operation of WWTP, especially in activated sludge system, tertiary clarification and sludge dewatering areas to meet Thai industrial effluent standards.
(ii) “Incidence of Endosulfan on Okra (Hibiscus esculentus) and its effects on Total, Reducing and Non Reducing sugars”. (University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan. May 1991-sep 1991).
 Field spray of Endosulfan on Okra and daily lab analysis of residual persistence of Endosulfan, total, reducing and non reducing sugars on okra samples
 Spectrophotometric analysis of Fifty samples randomly collected from market and fields
 Developed a correlation between Endosulfan, total, reducing and non- reducing sugars.
Accomplishments/Results
 Amount of Endosulfan progressively increased up to 5th day, then it decreased and was non-detectable on 15th day.
 16 % of samples randomly collected contained higher amount of Endosulfan residues as compared to the amount recommended by FAO.
