Title : Speech Coding using Vector
Quantization - The LD-CELP Method’(ITU-T G.728
standard).

Software used : C, MATLAB.

Description : The project is based on the
technique known as Vector Quantization, which is made
use of in one of the data compression methods known by

standards as Low-Delay Code Excited Linear Prediction
(ITU-T G.728 LD-CELP)method of data compression to
compress 64kbp/s audio into 16kbp/s, resulting in
intelligible audio quality at low bit rates and
reducing encoding delay, thereby aiding in
multiplexing more channels.
Applied in point to point and multipoint
broadcast, audio conferencing, audio part of video
conferencing, in areas where the delay becomes
critical factor(viz. voice channels via satellites or
mobile communication), voice messaging, packetized
speech-etc .
