Have extensive experience on various activities involved in project execution such as Preliminary Design Engineering, Detailed Engineering, Preparation of Instrumentation documents such as P&ID’s, Installation diagrams, Cable Schedules, Loop drawings, Terminations drawings, etc., Construction site activities and close coordination with the client regarding project progress and implementation, Coordination of instrument activities with other departments such as Civil, Piping, Electrical, etc., Loop Checking, Commissioning, Punch Listing, Asbuilt Drawing preparation and Turnover of the complete system to the client’s satisfaction.
EXPERIENCE
ASAHI KOHSAN CORPORATION, Kuwait City, Kuwait
April2001 – October2001
Project: Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation (KNPC), Mina Abdullah Refinery
Project Engineer
Project consisted of Instrumentation and Electrical works associated with the Design, Installation,
Erection and Commissioning of Deluge Firewater Spray system for Process pumps. Was
responsible for the detailing engineering involving the preparation of documents such as P&ID’s,
Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedules, etc. and doing design changes as per the field requirements – from concept to Commissioning and follow up with the client for their approvals, construction work on field, erection of instruments, junction boxes and above ground conduit systems and below ground cable. The work involved the assessment of manpower requirement, materials delivery, inventory, planning schedule of activities and follow up of the project schedule.
SAUDI ARABIAN PARSONS LIMITED, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia
April 1999 – Nov2000
Project: KEMYA Major Projects, Al Jubail Petrochemical Company, Jubail, KSA
Construction Specialist - Instrumentation
Project consisted of instrumentation works for seawater pipes supplying seawater to the entire plant through a treatment system. Was responsible for the Design, Detailing, Approvals from client and Commissioning the instrumentation involved in the intake and outlet structure for water supply from the Royal Commission canal. The work involved the construction of road crossing and long haul duct banks and trenches for instrument cables, terminations at the junction boxes in
classified as well as non – classified areas as per the National Electrical Code (NEC), calibration and installation of instruments and their commissioning and also their design drawings. Was responsible for the design, erection, installation and commissioning of utilities such as Plant/Instrument air systems and Potable/Plant water systems. Apart from this, was overall in charge for the instrumentation commissioning of six major carbon steel hydrocarbon pipelines viz., propylene, ethane, propane, natural gas, pygas and caustic. The work on these pipelines involved the custody transfer metering of the process fluid. Metering skids were being installed for an ARAMCO facility inside the KEMYA plant as well as for KEMYA themselves. The work related to the skids ranged from doing design changes and supervision of excavation of trenches, laying of cables, their termination at the skids as well as at the control room to the final loop checking and commissioning. The work on ARAMCO skids was carried out as per ARAMCO Standards, while for the rest of the plant the Exxon International Practice Code was followed. The work involved active coordination with contractors as well as the client and had to execute work under client's pressure.
Additionally, was responsible for laying of 115KV, 13.8KV, 4.160KV, and 480V cables connecting various substations. Here again, the Exxon International Practice Codes were being followed. Was supervising the installation of communication cables and associated systems such as radio, paging, access, telephone and CCTV.
DODSAL LIMITED, Mumbai, India
July 1996 - March 1999
Project: Indian Petrochemical Company Limited (IPCL), Baroda, India
Design & Construction Engineer - Instrumentation
Responsibility consisted of Design, Detailing, erection, installation and commissioning of Instrumentation for three cross-country hydrocarbon pipelines for transportation of Naphtha, Ethylene and Propylene. The pipelines were 110km long with one Master control center at one end while a Standby support center at the other. There were five intermediate Sectionalizing valve stations on the pipeline route. Was responsible for the Instrumentation installation, loop checking and commissioning at the five SV stations as well as the MCC and the Standby center. Was also responsible for preparation of Engineering drawings such as Loop Drawings, P&ID’s, Termination schedule, Cable schedule, Instrument Installation Diagrams, etc. The work involved was the that of the cabling, termination, calibration (factory as well as job site) of instruments, installation and commissioning. After the field installation was over, had to integrate all the instrumentation in to the central SCAN 3000 SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system through Programmable Logic Controller (Allen Bradley PLC5). Redundant I/O’s were being configured simultaneously on SCAN3000 as well as TDC3000. Loop tuning was being done at SCAN3000 as well as TDC3000. Had to coordinate with the client for the Loop checking of all the field instruments from the central SCADA system up to the field. The backbone of the SCADA communication was Fiber Optic Cable. After the successful commissioning of the complete system, was given the Senior Engineer – Instruments in charge of Operations and Maintenance of the hydrocarbon pipelines and was actively operating the SCAN3000 as well as TDC3000 systems on custom MMI’s.
WESTERN INDIA INDUSTRIES LIMITED, Pune, India
July 1994 - June 1996
Project: Indian Oil Corporation Limited, India
Construction Engineer - Instrumentation
Project was LPG storage and transportation from a jetty to the adjacent plant. Was assisting a senior Engineer in the preparation of engineering documents such as P&ID's, PFD's, Instrument Installation Diagrams, Loop Drawings, Cable schedules, etc. Had to submit these documents to the third party inspectors appointed by the client for their comments and approval thereafter. Had to follow the Engineers India Limited (EIL) code for engineering. Was also responsible for the Calibration and QA/QC activities involved in instrumentation as well as installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the instrumentation.
