v QUICK VIEW
CIMPLICITY Machine Edition is a group of software tools for developing PC-Based graphical interface and control solutions for machine level systems and small processes. It is specifically geared for the machine building industry and is a SINGLE software program for developing Operator Interface, PC-Based Control, and Motion Control programs.
Based on the FrameworX suite of products, Machine Edition utilizes a single user environment to develop applications for the machine and process industry. Each of the components of Machine Edition can exist in any combination, or by itself. Components can easily be added at any time. The components are tightly integrated with each other. Drag and drop, single database, Toolchest storage and retrieval are all standard features of the Machine Edition products.
Quick View is the HMI component of Cimplicity Machine Edition. It supports HMI development for most models of Quick Panel. Quick View contains all the features of Quick Designer and also exploits the rich features of Cimplicity ME to give Quick Panel users a new experience in HMI development
My Role in this project:
· Visited GE-Fanuc , Edmonton (Canada) for getting acquainted with the architecture of CIMPLICITY Machine Edition.

Visited GE-Fanuc Automation, USA (Charlottesville, VA) for knowledge transfer of the entire Versapro Product. Now IBC is the product owner. Added value added features and including solving the Print Functionality of the Ladder Diagram, which was a pain for the customer. Also involved in subsequent releases and maintaining the product.

v VISUAL STATE LOGIC
VSL provides an integrated development environment to develop and monitor State Logic type control programs that run on GE Fanuc series 90-30 and 90-70 PLCs.
My Role in this project:
Integrated Development Environment: The Integrated Development Environment is a Editor which provides to the services to write State Logic Programs.
Apart from providing services for writing SLC(State Logic Code), IDE provides Connect/ Disconnect, Run/Halt, Compile and download features to the connected PLCs using the I/O Communication Layer.
I/O COMMUNICATION LAYER: The I/O Communication is the core of the Visual State Logic, which uses the interfaces of the GE Fanuc Server for communicating with the GE –Fanuc 9030â and 9070â PLCs.
The I/O layer is a client application which interacts with the GE FANUC PLCs via Ethernet LAN and COM port using SRX protocol (Propriety of GE) for communicating with the PLCs. Various Wrapper functions like Connect / Disconnect to PLC, Run/Halt the PLC, Download/Upload the State logic from the PLC, Reading/Writing to PLC registers, Clearing Logic from PLC memory is written.
DEBUGGER: The Program debugger uses the wrapper functions of the I/O communication Layer to communicate with the PLC and interact with the PLC registers to maintain the information of the variables used in the state program.
The features of the Program Debugger include the Viewing of Variables from Monitor Table Window, Changing variable values, Viewing the Current State of the Task, Graphic animation’s of the state transitions in the target, Setting break points and the Ability of forcing the digital inputs.

v WSPOSE (Workstation based Process Operator Supervisory Environment)
WSPOSE(Workstation based Process Operator Supervisory Environment) is a DCS (Distributed Control System), which provides automated control and monitoring of real time processes in any real time system like a Thermal power station or any production system .This SCADA system configuration consists of two server which runs in Hot Redundant mode with several client connected over ETHERNET LAN and communicate using TCP/IP. The Servers acquires data(Analog/Digital) from the plant data bus and distributes the data to the clients.
OPTASK(Operator Task) : The MMI is comprehensive graphical user interface presenting the status of the plant in various formats: Alarms, Bar charts, Trends, Control Loop Display, Logs and Plant schematics continuously and on user demand. The user can group a set of points to have a better understanding of their behavior. Provides database editing saving and restoring.
WSLANCOMM : Communication between Servers and Clients through TCP/IP protocol. The active server sends the received data from plant to all the clients.
DBE(Database Editor) : The user can group a set of points(Analog/Digital) to have a better understanding of their behavior. Provides database editing saving and restoring using ODBC.
MODBUS PROTOCOL is a serial communication protocol which operates in Master / Slave modes. The Master sends a request message packet(Holding Coil’s/ Holding Registers) to slave. The slave serves the master with the requested data. The entire process is a Handshake process. This protocol is a part of WSPOSE system.
