SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

 Two-years of experience in Installation, Commissioning, programming and implementation of Distributed Control System, Programmable Logic Controllers, Online analyzers, field instruments and control panels for machinery like compressors, blowers and furnaces for large-scale chemical and petrochemical plants.

 Eleven years of experience in instrumentation maintenance of 50000 TPA Caprolactam plant’s including DCS, PLCs, Field instruments like transmitters and Control valves, Machine controls, compressor and blower controls, furnace controls, Burner management system, control room panel instruments. This includes,

1) Four years of extensive Experience as an Team leader for Modern petrochemical plant's instrument group involved in handling DCS, PLCs and PC based industrial control systems Caprolactam plant. Team consists of 11 technicians and two engineers.

2) Specialized in Installation, programming, commissioning and maintenance of YOKOGAWA CENTUM-XL DCS (32 nodes), SIEMENS S5 series of PLCs (40+) and large scale YASKAWA U84 PLC (3 with 2048 I/Os each).

3) Good experience in problem finding, trouble shooting, application analysis, design, implementation/development, testing, and documentation.

4) Managed Source control, documentation for large plant having 4500 loops and prepared PC based software for specification, Instrument maintenance history and reporting according to ISO9002.

5) Credited for successfully analyzing an inter-department’s current performance/ instability issues and providing a remedy to that and for gaining credibility.

6) During this thirteen years, worked on following Electronic field instruments and controllers from different manufacturer,

- Controllers: Taylor MOD30, Foxboro 761, Yokogawa SLPC & YS170, H&B Protronic, Chino and Honeywell.
- PLCs from Siemens S5, Allan-Bradley PLC2, YASKAWA U84.
- DCS of YOKOGAWA CENTUM XL.
- Control Valves of Fisher, Mesoneilan, Yamatake Honeywell, Kitamura, Nales-Jamseburry, Norbro, ARCA and motorised actuators, solenoid valves.
- PRDS from ARCA for 37 Kg/cm2g steam.
- Analyzers of H&B, Siemens, AMETEK and Rosemount.
- Centrifugal Compressor control from ATLAS-COPCO, Germany and KOBE, JAPAN.
- Gas turbine controls from Dressor rand, France.
- Level instruments: Displacement, capacitance, radar, radioactive, purge type, head type, float level switches.
- Flow instruments: Orifice, Rotameter, mass flow meter, Venturi, pitot tube, Oval gear, Turbine meter, Magnetic flowmeter
- Pressure instruments: Transmitters and switches.

RECENT WORK EXPERIENCE

Oct-98 to Present
Plant: CAPROLACTAM -II
Working as team leader for instrumentation maintenance work for Caprolactam plant. This includes shutdown planning and execution, major problem handling, training of personals, import substitution, cost reduction, documentation control and spares planning and procurement apart from day to day routine maintenance work.

 Working as a team manager to coordinate complete work with other departments.
 Involved in necessary modifications, change and implementation for better productivity and safety.
 Interacted with user groups for making necessary logic and operation.
 Responsible to prepare and review the technical specification for all such modifications and new instrumentation.
 Responsible to Coordinate with the assurance and quality. Also Responsible to Coordinate with the outside vendors improve the overall application performance.
 Served as all purpose technical problem solver and troubleshooter including innovating new common mechanism to test and debug different instruments of the system.
 Help other team members in learning and solving technical problems.
 Developed software solution to replace costly line printers and Monitors by developing device drivers and protocol conversion routines for YOKOGAWA DCS and SIEMENS PLC as a part of cost reduction activity.
 Studied various distillation column control and effect of interrelated controls. Optimized various controllers' set points for higher production and low raw material wastage.


Feb-98 to Nov-98
Project: ADBS (Anone De-bottle necking scheme)
Worked as a part of ADBS project team for detail engineering, project work, installation and commissioning. The ADBS project was implemented to enhance the productivity, safety and throughput. Which increased in annual capacity of production for CAPROLACTAM.

 Detail engineering work for 40 loops and 150 I/Os in present system using new hardware. This includes control valve sizing using Masoneilan control valve sizing software and Orifice sizing using software.
 Installation, calibration and commissioning of Analyzers, new node for DCS, new I/Os for PLCs, field instruments and control valves.

April-93 to Feb-98
Plant: CAPROLACTAM-II
Worked as instrument maintenance engineer. This includes,
1) Day to day routine maintenance work.
2) Spares planning and requirement generation.
3) Manpower planning and work distribution.
4) Trouble shooting for all kind of instrumentation problems including DCS, PLC.
5) Annual shutdown planning and execution.


Feb-91 to March-93
Project: CAPROLACTAM-II
Worked as a part of commissioning team for CAPROLACTAM-II plant. This involved
1) Installation of Instruments as per drawings and instrument schedule.
2) Complete loop checking, calibration and commissioning of complete loop (around 1300 loops).
3) GTR of plant and instrument performance test.
4) Interacted with user groups, process licensers and consultant for making necessary testing and commissioning schedules.
5) Responsible for manpower and work distribution, erection and installation of instruments, loop checking and instrument calibration.

Aug-89 to Dec-91
Project: Modernization of CAPROLACTAM-I

1) Worked as part of maintenance of mixed pneumatic and electronic instrumentation based on single/Dual loop controllers.
2) Part of modernization team for old relay based instrumentation to new PLC based instrumentation system for process and safety interlocking of continuously running CAPROLACTAM-I plant.
3) Worked for Siemens S5 series PLC programming, Logic development, interaction with process licensers for logic understanding and finalization.
