Two live Databases of about 80GB each has been migrated from Oracle 7.3.4 on HP Unix 10.2 to Oracle 8.1.6.3 HP Unix 11.0. The criticality of the job included the Size of the Database, the Long row fields and the limited down time since our company is a OLTP setup. But the job is been efficiently handled with a limited down time of 24 hrs only.
The job included the planning of the structure, choosing the appropriate way to migrate and fastest way to finish job effectively. After migration activities like shuffling of the Datafiles, logfiles and placement of the controlfiles and archive files has been taken care. Performance Tuning related jobs for the Oracle 8i has been done for the good performance and optimal resource utilization.
