RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
COMPANY
Madison Hill (Dec 1998 – April 2001)
Madison Hill is a small company of less than thirty employees. I worked as a developer alongside three other developers and a project manager.
Tools used:
Programming language - A 4GL called Omnis has been used for all development.
Databases – Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase ASA.
The role:
I was involved with two separate branches of development work at Madison Hill:
a) Creating bespoke modifications to Access Accounts software for which Madison Hill is a dealer.
b) Creating retail solution software:
The retail solution software is aimed at medium to small sized companies. It comprises front end tilling software to be used by cashiers, and also back office management software to be used for purposes such as maintaining customer, supplier, and stock records, stock management, and sales/purchase transactions.
This retail solution is currently used by companies in fields such as the retail of - computer hardware, outdoor activity (hiking, camping) products, and musical instruments.
As a developer my main function was to maintain and develop databases, and to create/code the software in Omnis. The role also involved analysis and program design work.
SQL Server development work involved: table and view creation, stored procedures, triggers, queries and sub-queries, various joins, indexes.
