Period of employment: June 1987 to February 1999 on
a full-time basis
Position: Trainee Mechanical Technician
Summary of Work Activities:
I was employed full time and my work was mainly done as projects. The main project involved resolving certain continual production problems with a particular Can manufacturing process. As part of the project, I learnt all the quality assurance aspects of the product (the Can) and of the materials used in that particular manufacturing process. Also, I learnt basic statistical process control and learnt the design, operation and maintenance of the production machines used for that manufacturing process. With that training, I began producing a solution for one of two materials used in the process. In handling this project, I interacted with the suppliers of Can manufacturing equipment and raw materials as well as personnel in almost every department of the company. This interaction with various parties led me to improve my communication skills.

I enjoy reading books and magazines of a technical nature (e.g. “Computer” magazine). I find this very helpful for broadening my technical knowledge and for keeping me informed of developments in my chosen field of study (Electronics Engineering). Reading these books is also helping me to make informed choices about my career direction within Electronics.
I like to travel because I delight in experiencing new places and cultures, and interacting with new people. Also, I appreciate nature and I take every opportunity to visit countryside areas.
