Parlor. During the implementation of the query system, we tried to accelerate the query,
using our optimized algorithm.
INTERESTING PROJECTS
Project for Master's degree: Multicast Congestion Control for Video Over IP.
UNIX Network Programming in C:
Design and implement a simple Client Agent(C) and Server (S) processes as client and server respectively,
using different IPC mechanisms on the same host and different host. For two Unix processes on the same host
to communicate, those mechanisms include Unix file system with reliable signals to deal with the synchronization
issues, PIPE, FIFO, system V Message Queue and POSIX Message Queue, shared memory and semaphore in System V and
POSIX. For the PIPE, the two processes have to be related, for other mechanisms, they can be unrelated or related.
For two related Unix process on the different hosts to communicate, we use sockets with TCP and UDP. The platform
is Solaris2.6.
Operating System in C++:
1. Implement an IPC using shared memory and semaphore and using multithreading system and some system calls
that involve synchronization, and resources management. The platform is Solaris2.5.
2. Implement client-server System. We call Stone, Scissors, and Paper processes as client processes. And the
monitor process provides service to the client processes using UNIX IPC. We define message formats for
interprocess communication between processes using protocols defined by ourselves. The platform is Solaris2.5
Client-Server System:
Design and implement an online shopping system using HTML and JavaScript as the user interfaces, Oracle as database,
Java and JDBC for connectivity between the interface and the server (2-tier architecture), JAVA servlet and Perl as
server side. The platform is Solaris2.6
Data compression project:
Analyze the different motion estimation algorithm. Design and implement a new motion estimation algorithm
for MPEG2/H.263. Using Matlab for implementation. Both on HPUX and Windows NT.
