TITLE: EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF HYDRODYNAMICS OF CIRCULATING FLUIDISED BED FOR NON-COKING COAL-AIR SYSTEM

Experimentation was carried out at Chemical Engg. Dept., I.I.T, Kharagpur.

An attempt has been made in the present thesis to obtain new experimental data on axial voidage profile and static pressure distribution in the riser of a shallow , circulating fluidized bed with a very low solids circulation . Their variation in the voidage has been marked by inflection point. Two new approaches have been made for the prediction of the pressure drop in the CFB boiler system.
One, by taking the effects of potential and kinetic energy changes of gas and solids along with those of the frictional losses due to the friction of the gases and solids with the wall.
Other, derived on the expanded packed bed analogy.

It may be noted that the measurement of the pressure drop in the fast bed column riser and
in the slow bed riser enables to calculate the H.P required by the blower, which supplies air into riser and slow bed.

The fast bed is occupied partially by the solids. The voidage for the gas phase is defined as ratio of gas phase volume by the volume of the empty column .The voidage distribution shows the flow pattern of gas solid mixture along the height of the column.

Title: Study of Resetting on the Heald Bore Grinder
Guide : Mr.D.Ghosh ,DDM (Production)

The Heald Bore Grinding Machine plays a major role in the production line. The bore of the
inner race of the bearing is grinded. during the production operation the machine was subjected to shut down and reset.
I had studied the machine for three shifts from July1 to July 28 and classified the types and the reasons of resetting and gave a graphical representation of the resetting. I determined the correction factors and suggested some methods of correction.
