Project Work : Title: Solid Modeling and Finite Element Analysis of a Bearing Bush.
Description:
The investigation involved the determination of the force required to Press-In a Bearing bush into a cylindrical hole, housing the control lever in the Governor cover of a Distributor-type Diesel engine fuel pump.
The solid models of the Governer cover and the Bearing bush were modeled based on the 2-D drawings provided by the industry, using the solid modelers SolidWorks and Pro/E.
Practically, a fixture is used to press-in the bush made of Brass into the control lever housing made of Aluminium. To determine the safe limit of the force required for this process, FE analysis was carried out using the packages ANSYS and NISA.Degrees of freedom (DoF) constraints were made use of.
The result plots that were derived indicated the required Press-In force and also the stresses developed at various points in the assembly.
