Working as Cognos consultant for Johnson & Johnson Inc, which is one of the MNC's that sells various numbers of products. It has various stores The Database has lots of historical data. So data warehouse plays a major role in enabling various stores to view the data at a lowest level and help them to make decisions to bring more revenue to company with new policies.

Role and Responsibility:

Ø The reporting tool used was Cognos. The reports were classified into simple report, analysis report.
Ø Used Cognos Impromptu tool to make a catalog file, tables, joins, folders and profiles and developed the reports by retrieving the data from .cat file to make list or cross-tab report.
Ø Used filters to get required reports through main reports. Drill through reports to make sub-reports.
Ø Slice and Dice Operations done for all OLAP applications.
Ø Pivoting, Drill Up/Down operations done for all OLAP applications

The models for this project are web based ones supporting both Internet and Intranet technologies over a proposed three-tier architecture having its presentation layer in HTML 4.01. Microsoft's

ASP to communicate with the components in the middle-tier implementing the business logic on MTS, which in turn interacts with the Database tier being implemented in Oracle8i.These models take care of the development needs for the web version with the focus being on the reusability of code. The source control used for the project is VSS.

Role and Responsibility:

Involved in the preparation of technical or functional specifications, Database Design as well as coding of the Asp pages and VBScript classes for the project. I coded the generic form validation routines in COM. All the date validations and other validations were taken in to considerations. Project Description

Report Builder is a component, which is built as a DLL for the generation of reports. The Component acts as a Middle tier for the application. This component is designed keeping into view any RDBMS (tested for Oracle, SQL Server, Access). This component can be used either for Client/Server or Web applications.
The report is generated based on the type of the report chosen (i.e. WORD or HTML) and various templates are also provided (e.g. Listing etc) for the ease of the user along with a custom option. The report also has a feature for intelligent linking of the tables when the join of two or more tables is concerned.

Involved in the preparation of system requirement specifications, technical or functional specifications. Design documents. Design of the Object Model for the Report Builder, Guiding and helping the Team Members

Project Description:
Here I got involved in development work of an Online-Order Management System, which covers the entire gamut of the company. The Company has products produced by tens of mills or shops. Our aim was to generate on-line invoicing at the shipping points of various shops in a full-customized manner. The price of the product is calculated by the base price as per the company's existing policy (which may change from time to time) and statutory govt. levies like sales tax and excise have to be charged. The software had to be designed for four kinds of users viz. Marketing, Finance, Shipping and Developer. The system was supposed to take orders at various marketing branches, get clearance from the finance and be seen at the requisite shops for order processing and Invoice preparation. Finally various certifications before dispatch by various agencies were supposed to be incorporated. Validations are done both at DB level (by Triggers) as well as in Front-End. To circumvent ambiguity, different forms were designed for different users without compromising the usage of reusable code..

Responsibilities:
Pure development works at back-end with Oracle 8.0 and SQL Plus involving packages consisting of various procedures and functions. Also a few database triggers were coded by me. At the front-end designing of forms in Visual Basic 6, coding involving use of Remote Data Objects (RDO) and ActiveX controls were coded by me.
