SCADA SYSTEM TRAINING IN ABB, BANGALORE :

This training was given to get complete knowledge of SCADA System for the Engineering and Execution of RUTEL project regarding RTU 200, RTU 210, Local Automation Function software, Mimic, Front End, Consoles, LAN Network and Relay logic for control and indications from Field. My services were to be provided to ABB on manmonth basis for RUTEL project.
ABB-OIL INDIA LIMITED’S RUTEL PROJECT ( PIPELINE CONTROL SCADA SYSTEM ) :
Post : Technical Engineer Duration : July 1996 to April 1998 (22 Months).
The Project work involves Replacement of old Telemetry System with the new ABB’s S.P.I.D.E.R SCADA System which consists of Remote Terminal Units, Telemetry, Front End, Mimic, Operator Workstations, LAN, Field Connections, Process Relays and Transducer.
Posted as Commissioning Engineer working for ASEA BROWN BOVERI LTD during the entire period of Project execution which involves Erection, Testing and Commissioning of Scada Sytem at 1 Master Station, 9 Pump Stations, 16 Repeater Stations, 5 Refinery Terminals of OIL INDIA LIMITED (Pipeline department) engaged in transportation of crude oil over the span of 1200km starting from upper Assam to Bihar.
The main job involves designing the Process Control and Data Acquisition Logic, Preparing Control schedule, Power schedule and Cable schedule, Carry out the wiring procedure, Lab test of the Relay Logic, Trouble shooting, Commissioning of the RTU’s and Testing the field functionalities. Carry out small design changes according to the specific needs of the field and Scada system to ensure proper interface between both field and new system.
Installation and Connection of Operator / Engineering consoles with printers, dat tape drive, decservers and LAN networks as per ABB Norway schematics. Coordinating with the software person for commissioning of Operator Workstation at Master Station and Pump Station. Loading and Testing of the Local Automation Function (LAF) software loaded in RTU’s for centralised control of Pump Station. Testing of software and hardware for remote commands from Master Station to Pump Stations, Repeater Stations and Refinery Terminals. Testing of Mimic Panel at Master Station to get indications of Entire systems. After successful Commissioning, Submission of all Updated Schedules and Manuals to the Station Incharge. Since this pipeline is in operation and is feeding crude oil to five Refineries, the online replacement and switchover of the control system made the job more challenging.
ASBUILT DRAWINGS OF RUTEL PROJECT :

This project includes submission of Asbuilt Drawings of RUTEL Project which consist of equipment layouts, Room layouts, transducer and relay connection details, RTU cards Control circuits with termination details, Power Distribution diagrams, Junction Box Termination details and Final Wiring package of all Equipments. All drawings were made in Autocad. This package was made for Master Control Station, 9 Pump Station, 16 Repeater Station and 5 Refinery Terminal.
CENTRAL RAILWAYS SCADA MAINTENANCE :
Post : Technical Engineer Duration : June 1998 to December 1998
This contract given by ABB, Bangalore for CENTRAL RAILWAYS operated from Traction Power Control at CST, which maintains the Traction Power for running local trains in Central and Harbour region of Mumbai.
This job involves maintenance of SCADA System that included BECOS-10 plus Master Station, PDP-11/73 based computers, Mimic Panels, Mimic controllers, Dual UPS system with Batteries, Auto switchover for UPS, 40 Indactic-33 remote station with AFCOSET make power supply. From the Master Station, monitoring all Remote Terminal Stations for faults, which include Computer System, Telecommunication System, Control System or Power supply. Visit to the Stations to restore its proper operation. Coordinating with ABB, Worli for repairing of faulty RTU’s modules.
Another ongoing job which is separate from Scada Maintenance is Erection, Testing and Commissioning of three Remote Terminal Stations namely Chembur, Khandeshwar and Datiwali which are pending during ETC of Scada System.
DATA TRANSMISSION FROM BSES DAHANU TPS TO MSEB KALWA :

This project includes Erection, Testing and commissioning of ABB Transducer Panel, SIEMENS Remote Terminal Unit with ABB Modem. Complete Engineering of the ABB Transducer Panel for low current value of CTs, PTs of the Switchyard and SIEMENS RTU for Data acquisition of Breakers, Isolators, CTs and PTs of the Switchyard. Preparing cable schedule and carry out the wiring procedure for the Control circuits and Data Communication. Testing and Final Commissioning of the System with co-ordination from Siemens Engineer regarding the RTU Software. At Receiving end ( MSEB Kalwa ) Installation, Testing and Commissiong of ABB Modem. After successful completion, Submission of Asbuilt Schematics and Termination drawings made in Autocad.
BSES KERALA POWER PLANT AT KOCHI :

Posted as assistant engineer for commissioning of electrical equipment in Power Plant which includes 110kv switchyard with CTs, PTs, Circuit Breakers, Isolators, Earth Switchs, 20 MVA Transformer, Control Panels and Relay Panels and Busbar Protection Panels, 6.6KV Indoor Switchgear with incoming feeders, outgoing feeders and buscoupler switchgear, Master control room with Power Distribution Control and Generator Protection Panels. ACDB, DCDB at both 110KV and 11kv side. 110V DC Battery Charger with Batteries. Job involves to assist with Commissioning Engineer and Customer for carrying out functionality test and ensure proper operation of the above electrical equipments.

ELECTRICAL CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ( ECMS ) PROJECT :

This is turnkey project, which involves Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Maintenance of Electrical Control System to distribute power and proper load shedding of the entire Plant. It consists of 14 substations with I/O panels & Foxboro RTU’s and one Central Control Room with Operator & Engineering computers connected throughout the plant by Fibre Optic Network. Engineer’s India Ltd is the consultant for entire Execution in this Plant.
This job involves Project scheduling, Planning weekly activities, Approval of Installation work from EIL or HPL authorities, Installation of I/O panels and Foxboro RTUs at 14 substations, Installation of Operator and Engineering consoles at CCR, Lan Connection, Network assembly using CISCO Switches and Routers, Interfacing RTUs with Relay Lan, Numerical Relays and Data Concentrator. Modification in Cable Schedule, Managing and Handling two subcontractors for IOP and LSTK units, Certification of the work done from EIL authorities and certification of the subcontractor invoice. Loop checking, testing and commissioning of the complete SCADA system, Submission of daily progress report to EIL and HPL persons. Since this plant is in production stage (dedicated to Nation on 2.4.2000), it is challenging to switchover it to our control system.
