Product Knowledge:

According to the Aluminium & Glass industry, products handled can be classified and managed in to six major categories.

1. Glass
Knowledge about Clear Glass, Tinted Glass, Reflective Glass (High & Low Performances), Curved Glass, Wired Glass, Obscured Glass, Laminated Glass & Stained Glass.

2. Aluminum
Knowledge about complete profiles widely used to fabricate Hinge & Sliding Doors & Windows, Curtain Wall, Rails, Louvres, balustrades etc. and familiarized with the following world known systems. (Thermal Break & Non Thermal Break) ITALIAN - Series from Gulf Extrusion, REYNOLDS – Series, TEAM - Integrale Series (Wood & Aluminium Fusion), REHAU - PVC Series and FOCCHI – Series. Also, aware of various cladding system using aluminium composite panel cladding, aluminium sheet cladding, stainless steel column cladding etc.

3. Hardware Accessories
Various types of Hinges, Handles, Locksets, Door Closers, Sliding Rollers, spider systems, Glass patch fittings, Floor springs, etc. from both foreign & local sources.

Duties & Responsibilities

Sourcing and gathering information about the latest products existing in the market pertaining to the respective field, which enables the "Estimation Department" to price more precisely rather than assumption.

The job starts right from the "Contracts Department" to go through the material specifications, material requirements, project schedule and budget to understand what and where to buy.

Update the "Design Department" about the material availabilities, alternatives and substitutes according to the demand of the project, sample submission for approval, material reservation etc.

Material reservation analysis takes place to evaluate the stock and non stock items which leads to raising purchase indent by the "Stores Department" to procure the same. Also responsible for physical control of materials, material storing, inventory control etc.

Purchase process like sending enquiries, collection of quotes from various suppliers, selecting the best among them, price and payment negotiation, delivery terms, order confirmation, material receipts, scrap control & disposal and supplier payments in coordination with the "Finance Department"

Leadership efforts to make the "Purchase and Stores Department" more
professional to have an organized and coordinated work flow to overcome uncertainties. The broad objective is to improve organizational performance through effective and efficient decision making concepts for purchasing the right product with the right quality at a right price. Moreover, submission of highly informative Reports to the higher authorities of management about the project material status from time to time.

Update the existence of new materials (if any) to the “Installation Department” also gathers information about the site status from them to make the purchase report more effective and error free.

Last but not the least, This is how the Purchase Department managed by me in Thani Industries. In fact Purchase plays a key role in an organization. Proper Co-operative Team Work among all departments will make the concern more profitable and alert the management in all better perspective.
