Minimum Requirements:

· B. Sc. in Civil Engineering or related disciple

· Very good knowledge of written and spoken English. Arabic is an advantage.

· Good knowledge of Computer operation.

· 10 - 12 years experience in design, supervision and inspection of civil projects and maintenance work in an oil / gas or petrochemical industry.

Scope of Duties:

· The designated engineer shall report to the Head of Civil Engineering, and shall be responsible for the supervision of all site construction activities to ensure that works are carried out in full compliance to the specified standards. This includes the progress of work and its co-ordination between Company H.Q., the plant and the contractor.

· Supports the Head of Civil Engineering to assist the plants in identifying and finding satisfactory solutions to civil problems, including recommendations for involvement of third party consultants or other additional resources, if and when required.

· Investigates and analyses extraordinary maintenance and new civil projects to identify and propose the scope of works, drawings, specifications and technical details. This would include preparation of budget estimates, and schedule programmes for execution of the works.

· Preparation of technical tender documents for the approved budget and scope of works, as well as appraisal of the contractors technical bid submissions, in accordance to Company's standards and procedures.

· Supervision of the on-going civil projects, and extraordinary maintenance work in accordance with the planned schedules.

· Execution of annual civil inspection for Company plants. This includes the preparation of inspection reports, development of general and specific recommendations for the proposed repair and maintenance work.

· Co-ordination and supervision of the settlement surveys, checking and monitoring of the important superstructure within the plants (once every 18 months). Also to determine the scope of the settlement survey, and the spot checking and monitoring of the contractor to ensure quality performance, and to update the record cards.

· Preparation of design, specification, and repair procedures for non-routine maintenance work to be implemented by Contractors, and inspected by the on-site civil supervisors or foremen in the plants.

· Preparation of progress reports, answering of contractors technical queries, monitoring of Bill of Quantities and checking of monthly invoices.
