Job Title : Telecom Technician

Minimum Requirements:

· Diploma after high school (12 years high school + 2 years Technical institute) in Telecommunications, Electronics, or equivalent.

· 8 years experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of equivalent Telecommunication equipment and telephone system Network.

· Familiar with electrical apparatuses installation at Hazardous areas.

· Good knowledge of English.

Scope of Duties:

· Carries out all skilled installation, Maintenance and Repair of Telecommunication systems such as HF/VHF/UHF radio, CCTV, Public Address, Hot Line, Access, control systems, Telephone/PABX network equipment and accessories including telecommunications Fiber and copper cables network.

· Receives Incoming work requests from supervisor with comments on required work, examines faulty equipment and systems to determine work scope and requirement, obtains necessary tools and spare parts and proceeds to work site to carry out the jobs.

· Carries out the skilled faultfinding and defect repairs of HF/VHF/UHF radio, CCTV, Public Address, Hotline, security systems, Telephone, PDH and cable network and other Telecommunications systems. Includes, servicing equipment to manufacturer's specifications, identify the faults in equipment and carrying out necessary repairs as directed by Telecommunication Engineer. Provides suggestions when accessories including telecommunications fiber and copper cables network.

· Carries out the routine, Predictive and preventive maintenance checks on various telecommunication equipment and accessories. Includes operating and servicing sophisticated test equipment used in assigned work such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, radio test acts and analogue and digital meters. Ensures all equipment is in efficient operating condition and arranges for service and recalibration as required.

· Participates in the diagnoses of major faults with the engineer and carries out routine investigation of anomalies. Replaces or installs parts of simple or routine nature up to card level as directed by Telecommunication Engineer.

· Assists in directing the installation or maintenance of equipment and systems carried out by project contractor's personnel. Includes participating in the testing of equipment during commissioning and monitoring and reporting on the work of contract.

· Registers job out and fills in necessary records upon completion of the job, detailing spare parts, materials and manpower utilized for subsequent cost assignment by supervisor. Maintains records of equipment repairs carried out and draws the attention of the Engineer to the need for replenishment of spare parts and materials at required.

· Compiles with all Health, Safety and Environment rules and regulations, including the use of protective clothing and equipment, and ensures that all personnel working in his area comply with HSE & Q regulations. Maintains worksites and repair shop in a clean and tidy condition.

· Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as providing necessary details for the preparation of maintenance report, ensuring availability and proper use of specialized tools and materials, etc.
