The Remote Office IT Manager is responsible for the support of all existing office infrastructure as well as the implementation of new back-office and desktop infrastructure technologies. The candidate should be bi-lingual and have experience supporting a wide variety of hardware and software. This employee will report to and take direction from the Sr. Director of world wide client services.
This person will work with local non-IT staff as well as United States based IT staff to ensure all local and worldwide IT initiatives are completed in a manner that is consistent within budget, technical specification, and time deadlines. This employee must possess strong self discipline/motivation as communication will be limited due to the difference in time zones.
Responsibilities
Ø Manage day to day IT operations for the entire Tokyo office including desktop and back-office issues.
Ø Maintain Tokyo IT environment to ensure all systems firmware, software, and operating systems are current.
Ø React to and correct problems such as system failures, virus detection and removal, network outages, power failures, and all general end user based problems
Ø Act as point person to identify Tokyo office deficiencies and work with US based IT management to implement solutions to resolve these issues.
Ø Ensure that all critical systems are backed up and that tapes are rotated in a manner that best insures business continuity, as well as perform any data restores requested from the end user community.
Ø Work with help desk to complete end user requests.
Ø Build out systems for new hire employees and rebuild existing systems if necessary.
Requirements
Ø Be proficient in both Microsoft server and desktop operating environments (Windows 2000 server, 2000 professional, XP, NT 4.0, 95, and 98)
Ø Display proficiency with Apple OS 9 and OSX.
Ø Experience configuring Compaq/HP Proliant server hardware.
Ø Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices.
Ø Knowledge of TCP/IP routing, tunneling, and security principles.
Ø Experience w/ 802.11b wireless technologies and WEP encryption.
Ø Ability to work with and fix problems associated with a wide variety of desktop environments such as i386 laptops, desktops, and Apple hardware.
Ø Experience with disaster recovery and redundant disk technologies such as RAID 0,1,and 5.
Ø Excellent verbal and communication skills
