Senior Applications Developer
Responsibilites
Help lead the design and development of database driven online applications
Act as technical liaison with engineers in the U.S.
Research, Investigate and recommend emerging technologies sets that may be applied to enhance or streamline the system
Help Identify and report technical trends in Japan as needed
Help drive online system architecture, This includes developing designs to handle scalability, reliability, and high availability of core Web services
Design and implementation of Internet-based applications for both internal and external use
Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Candidate must have minimum 5 years Web and database development experience including creating applications that drive a dynamically published Web site
Applicant must be proficient in SQL, SQL 7 stored procedures and triggers, ASP, JavaScript, VBscript, Visual Basic and the Microsoft platform and operating system (Windows NT 4, Windows 2000, IIS 4, IIS 5, SQL 7 and SQL 2000) as well as the Microsoft development toolset
Internationalization and localization experience highly desirable
Additional skills not required but helpful include: Oracle database, DHTML, XML, XSL, WAP and experience creating an online reporting or administration system
The ideal candidate will have a flexible can-do attitude, be detail oriented with excellent quantitative analysis skills
Language Requirements
Ideal candidate should be able to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English; candidates with Japanese and Cantonese or Italian language skills are less desirable but will be considered depending on skill level.
CANDIDATE MUST EITHER BE CURRENTLY RESIDING IN JAPAN OR WILLING TO RELOCATE TO JAPAN. CANDIDATE MAY LIVE IN THE U.S. IF THEY ARE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO JAPAN FOR 3-6 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR.
