The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing countries, helping to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives. It does so through financing private sector investments in the developing world, mobilizing capital in the international financial markets, and providing technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses. The Position
The Human Resources Account Manager will be part of the HR Client Services teams which
assist department managers with developing and implementing HR strategies. Responsibilities encompass all HR activities, from recruitment to separations, including staff planning, the in-time process and follow-up on performance evaluations, staff and management development issues, compensation and benefits. In addition, the HR Account Manager works closely with directors and managers on issues of organizational and change management.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
Operating within the framework of the World Bank Group Human Resources policies, the HR Account Manager is the first point of contact for staff within his/her designated departments at headquarters and in the field for any HR matters. The role includes, but is not restricted to:
- Advising managers on HR policies and best practices, as well as on organizational development issues;
- Career counseling;
- Staff planning and resourcing;
- Management of staff movements, rotations and developmental assignments;
- Coaching and advising managers and staff on performance management issues;
- Compensation and promotion matters;
- Field office staffing matters, such as preparation of staff for field assignments and assistance in redeployment upon their return;
- Terminations and separations;
- Analyzing the staffing mix and staffing needs.
Selection Criteria
- Broad HR management experience in the private sector (5 years minimum), preferably but not necessarily in a finance/service oriented environment;
- Proven track record in implementing projects in organizational development/performance management and/or change management;
- Understanding of multicultural issues is essential. Experience of working abroad, particularly in developing countries, is an advantage;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, including experience in building and sustaining good relationships at senior levels;
- Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written), plus a second or third language.
An interest in the kind of work and mission that IFC represents is important.
