TIME DOMAIN CORPORATION
Purpose of the Position (why does the company need this position to succeed?):
Time Domain, an exciting high technology company with a revolutionary wireless technology, has steadily increasing needs to support key customers and business partners in Japan and Asia, particularly the consumer electronics companies who will be customers for the P300/Sapphire chipset, including strategic investor Sony. In order to put in place relationships for ’03 chip sales, we need local resources.
Job Responsibilities (what is this person going to be responsible/accountable for?):
1. Account Manager Sony Corporate (Tokyo). This individual will be the primary contact for all Sony business units based out of Tokyo. The objective of this responsibility will be to secure chip sales with Sony business units.
2. Business Development Japan. This individual will be responsible for developing relationships with all key consumer electronics companies in Japan and Korea with identified wireless PAN needs to determine specific requirements and get design wins for TDC chipsets. As the initial point person for North Asia, this person will also be responsible for monitoring and summarizing standards processes in the region.
3. Asian Marketing. In this role, the individual will be responsible for identifying key trade shows, key trade publications, specialty and general press opportunities and recommending marketing plans to promote awareness and generate quality leads for TDC chipset sales.
4. North Asian Regulatory Monitor. This individual will be responsible for developing a regulatory strategy for Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan, including liaison with our consultants, advisors and business partners, monitoring progress through regulatory bodies, and keeping up to date on regulatory changes in the region.
Requirements (yrs/type of experience, education):
1. Minimum 10 years of technical sales or business development in communications chip company (preferably wireless, USB or 1394 – selling to PC and CE manufacturers).
2. Minimum BS in Electrical or RF Engineering, MS or MBA preferred.
3. Significant business experience in Japan (5 years minimum).
4. Fluent English and Japanese required, Korean and Chinese language skills a plus.

1. Deep knowledge of the chip sales process and good network within CE/PC product groups/business units at decision-maker level in Japan
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills

4. Self-starter with highly developed initiative and follow-through
3-6 Month Goals (what are the initial deliverables expected from this person):
1. TDC as preferred UWB company within Sony (WCL, other business units), as demonstrated by joint product development plan in negotiation.
2. Initial meetings with top 10 CE/PC companies in Japan, with full summaries and strategies for winning in each.
3. Plan for attendance/exhibition at key trade events in Asia based on overall business objectives.
4. Summary of Japanese regulatory situation and recommended approach to getting UWB approved for use in the domestic Japanese market under rules similar to the US.
Development Plan (what orientation and training will the new employee receive upon hire to ensure his or her success and productivity?):
· 2-week Orientation in Huntsville
· Initial introductions to current Asian contacts, history of relationships
· Participation in one IEEE standards meeting during first 6 months
· Participation in one TDC trade event during first 6 months
Areas to Assess (what are the key areas upon which the interviewers can assess a fit? These areas will be allocated to the interviewers):
· Depth of Knowledge of wireless communications market
