The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and resolving day-to-day business queries, and acting as the liaison between Equity Research and IT to progress development projects. This role will involve exposure to many aspects of Equity Research in a global environment. It will provide the opportunity to work within an innovative team that applies practical and technical knowledge to help develop regional and global systems for analyzing company accounts data and producing research. An important aspect of the role is to market the importance of the database and the activities of the team.
Responsibilities:
· Build relationships with new joiners and existing users; provide training and support on data input and extraction into and from the DB.
· Monitor quality of DB data input and extraction, and performance of internal systems and external feeds.
· Enhance existing procedures, and develop new means of identifying and correcting data errors and/or omissions.
· Compare accuracy and timeliness of DB data with external data sources.
· Develop and maintain standardized methods for DB data input and extraction to ensure consistency and data integrity.
· Provide key link between application users and developers, as well as users and application support, to enhance database utility.
· Promote DB usage and enhance data retrieval methods.
Maintain compliance of DB data with legal requirements and business process workflow standards.
Requirements
· Fully bilingual (Japanese/English)
· Work experience in EQ Research is a must
· Computer literate: Microsoft office, primarily Excel; experience with Macros (VBA); SQL knowledge helpful
· Knowledge of internet/web technology.
· Knowledge of Market data services (eg, Reuters, FactSet, etc)
· Knowledge of Japanese financial accounting
· Good communication/people skills; able to interact clearly and effectively with both Research Analysts and IT specialists; reliable and self-motivated with a proactive attitude towards change, offers own ideas for debate; seeks the best alternatives in the resolution of errors and problems.
