POSITION TITLE: Direct Marketing Manager
LOCATION: Shanghai, China
REPORTS TO: Vice President – Marketing, China
Regional Direct Marketing Director - Asia Region
THE COMPANY: A U.S based Fortune 50 company as well as a world leader in the insurance industry, the company is engaged in a wide range of insurance (life and general), financial services as well as investment management businesses in more than 130 countries throughout the world.
BACKGROUND To match with the business growth, market complexity and product development in China, the company has decided to strategically plan, develop, and implement specific marketing strategies and efforts for the China market. In conjunction with the establishment of the Centralised Administration Office (CAO) in Shanghai, the Company has the recruitment need for a newly created position of “ Direct Marketing Manager”.
DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has been created to serve the specific market complexity and product requirements in China. It is a senior management position with the following strategic responsibilities:
1. As an integral member of the Specialty Marketing team, the incumbent will assist the Vice President – Specialty Marketing, China, and the Regional Direct Marketing Director to set up the marketing structure and build up an efficient and effective direct marketing plans, strategies and actions in China. He/she will develop, implement and monitor the strategies, policies, systems, practices and procedures for direct marketing to all the its China offices.
2. As an integral part of the China marketing team, the incumbent will assist the Vice President – Specialty Marketing to plan, design and launch the direct marketing initiatives and programs, and adopt them into an appropriate manner for the China business development.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be responsible to plan, develop and implement all Direct Marketing activities in China including the following:
I. DIRECT MARKETING MANAGEMENT
1. Derive, design, develop and implement overall direct marketing strategies, approaches and methodologies, covering direct communications, direct response, customer response management, customer care programs as well as integrated-marketing functions;
2. Build, lead and supervise the direct marketing team and manage overall direct marketing responsibilities of the company.
3. Plan, monitor and control direct marketing budget and overheads;
4. Conduct marketing and product researches for better understanding of our policyholders, their needs and our services quality;
5. Explore new and effective distribution channels such as e-marketing, direct-mail, bankassurance, telemarketing, and database marketing;
6. Prepare service marketing support programs to existing and new policyholders;
7. Support other China offices in terms of direct marketing;
8. Support other profit centers of the Company in terms of direct marketing; and
9. Effective use of the department’s direct marketing and operating budget so that business objectives can be met on time and with high standard and good quality service.
II. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT
Work together with the Specialty Marketing team members to develop and manage the development of all life products of the Company in China. This includes:
1. Obtain agency feedback and market information;
2. New product design and product concept feasibility study;
3. Product positioning and business analysis;
4. Develop product and marketing strategies;
5. Implement new products and ensure smooth orchestration among departments; and
6. Study product profitability and cost effectiveness.
LATERAL ASSOCIATES: Functional Managers in the Specialty Marketing
team in China.
KEY MEASURING
PARAMETERS: 1. Strategic marketing sense and analytical in business analysis and decisions making;
2. Excellent positioning of the Company’s products and services;
3. Develop effective direct marketing channels and enhance existing distribution efficiency;
4. Strong co-ordination power and leadership skills; and
5. Able to work under pressure and meet business objectives and deadlines.
DECISION MAKING
AUTHORITY: 1. Reporting to the Vice President – Specialty Marketing in China, and the Asian Regional Direct Marketing, works under general supervision; finished work is reviewed for attainment of objectives and adherence to guidelines and procedures;
2. Hiring and disciplining direct marketing team staff;
3. Planned and controlling usage of direct marketing budget.
TRAVEL
REQUIREMENT: Based in Shanghai, the incumbent would be required to travel for direct marketing activities within the China region.
