LOCATION: Beijing, Tianjing or Wuhan

REPORT TO:The marketing Director, China

THE COMPANY: The Haomen Beer of Danone’s Beer Division in China is the best selling local beer in Beijing, as well as commanding a strong presence in the rest of the PRC.
There are brewing facilities for this beer in Beijing, Yutian, Tianjing and Wuahan. The joint venture in Wuhan is as big as Tsing Tao Beer.


POSITON SPECIFICATION

STRATEGIC
RESIPONSIBILITIES  In charge of all the Marketing functions for the Haomen Beer brand, including strategic and operational planning, monitoring of all related activities, and relevant research work

 Work closely with the Marketing Director of the Beer Division in China, as well as the Sales Director, and safeguard the leading market position of Haomen Beer

 Ensure the continuing growth and profitability of the company through the development of the whole scope of marketing activities

LINE RESPONSIBILITIES

MARKETING
 Manage the Marketing operation for Haomen Beer

 Conduct research to develop the knowledge base on consumers, markets and the competition

 Using this knowledge, recommend a strengthen the Haomen Brand, as well as to launch several ranges of new products, including international brands

JOB DESCRIPTION

BRAND MARKETING MANAGER  Improve and develop the Marketing Mix of existing and new products. This is to include
 Product development
 Packaging
 Promotion
 Advertisement
 Recommend the pricing policy
 Develop promotion programs and merchandising activities with the Sales Director
 Monitor the efficiency of all marketing activities through adherence to the profit and loss account
 Manage the Advertising and Promotion budget, which is equivalent to 6% of next sales revenue on a projected turnover of RMB 350M for 1997
 Develop and launch new products with high margins

PEOPLE  Establish a strong marketing team within two years through building, training, motivating and developing local talents

 Maintain close working relationships with-
 The Sales Director of Haomen Beer
 The Research and Development Manager of Haomen Beer
 Kronenborg’s R&D in France who will be providing strong support

 Develop and maintain effective and professional relationships with external agencies in Advertising, Packaging, Promotion and Research


PERFORMANCE The will be based on the evolution of the following-

 Volume
 Brand awareness and image


JOB DESCRIPTION

BRAND MARKETING MANAGER  New product launches
 Quality of team training and motivation

PROSPECTS  Progression to the position of Marketing Director within the companies of the Danone Group. This will be dependent on the performance of the individual especially within the first two year

 Participation in the senior marketing training programme of the Danone Group


 Visit to Europe to develop a good working relationship with Kronenborg’s R&D

 Training provided by the Marketing Director
This position will entail monthly visit to Hong Kong as well as extensive travel throughout the PRC


CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION  A local PRC National who is a university graduate

 Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin and English

 Possesses 4-5 years of management experience from the Marketing Division of a foreign joint venture in the PRC, within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods arena

 Otherwise with at least 2-3 years in FMCG sales, with another 3 years or so in trade marketing, and 3 years in pure marketing

 Demonstrated sound leadership and team management skills

 Possesses good common sense

 Proactive, creative and resourceful

 Ability to think strategically and globally

 Good interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of staff, different nationalities, external agencies, and business partners
