LOCATION: US - VA- Reston
INDUSTRY: Consumer Based Products - Wireless technology, Java, embedded systems, WinCE and mobile devices
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager/Director to manage the product development and lifecycle of an exciting new consumer-based product offering. Your main goal is to provide a customer focused vision to the product and ensure a quality product launch and success in the marketplace.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Research and understand current and prospective customer needs
· Collect customer requirements and create product requirement documents (PRDs)
· Manage a cross-functional team (Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Sales) and work closely with engineering during implementation
· Own product roadmap and evaluate development trade-offs including schedule, performance, features, cost, support requirements, etc.
· Evangelize the product among external as well as internal audiences
· Evaluate product positioning and competitive offerings
· Manage product collateral such as whitepapers, data sheet, user guides, training material, etc.
REPORTS TO: n/a
SUPERVISES: Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Etc.
EDUCATION: BS/BA required, MBA preferred
EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT:
· Minimum 7 years working experience, 3 years in a product management role.
· Strong communication skills, presentation skills and technical background. Strong domain knowledge in wireless technology, Java, embedded systems, WinCE and mobile devices
· Experience with provisioning process for consumer products will be a plus
· Specific experience defining and leading development of a software product with a track record of successful collaboration with the Engineering team
· Product launch experience
· Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle and processes
· Experience making strategic decisions that lead to positive business results
· Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, trade shows with overnight stays
