India – Persecution of Christians in India has escalated in recent months. Since the beginning of June at least three Christians have died at the hands of Hindu extremists. A Catholic priest was murdered near Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, at the Brother Polus Memorial School on June 7th. An eyewitness to the murder later died in police custody after having been tortured in various ways. On June 12 construction workers found the body of evangelist Ashish Prabash Masih in his home in Punjab state. The man had been stabbed many times and part of the house was burnt. Other violence in India has included a series of church bombings. Though the government acknowledges a rise in violence against Christians, it has done little to stop the violence from occurring.
Prayer Points: Pray for the safety of Christians in India. Also pray that they would love their enemies and not retaliate violently to recent attacks. Finally pray that the government of India would do more to protect its people.
