I believe that it does not matter whom you train or who trains you, but the moral fiber of a person that dictates whether this training will be used for good or bad. It is no secret that the US trains special forces of other nations in Asia, but we do not see abuses of such proportions as we see now, and the few abuses that do happen are given due attention by authorities. In many respectable nations, the people will not allow this. Somehow, before things get worse, an idealistic group (perhaps young officers, the dominant religious group or section of civilian sector) will risk life and limb for what is right. Where was this voice when these so-called Suharto - "US/UK" conspiracy was beginning (IF there is such a thing)? Even now, Indonesians seem to turn a blind eye as people are being slaughtered in their own backyard, while elsewhere around the world people openly condemn the massacre and even send help (some have died doing so). Despite the death and suffering of innocent people, the primary interest of the many Indonesians is still the retention of East Timor as an Indonesian territory. Same indifference they showed during last years riots. So, are you saying that Indonesians, as a people, do not have a conscience and are mere puppets to the "US"? By the way, I put "US" in quotes because I still do not believe all these blown up "CIA" stories. Never did, except in movies. They do have such operations, but they are no more effectivel than you allow them to be.
