Hi!
The only thing is, that you can't frame an adequate answere, because there is none.

That's democracy:

1. The votes of people are directly, immediately, free, private and every vote have the same weight.
2. Every party has the same chance to get into parliament. Coalition must be done, if one party don't have a 50% majority.
3. There is an opposition existing of the other parties, that observe the government. They are also sitting in the Parliament.
4. The press is under NO control of the state. The press have a function of observing the government, so normal people can observe the doing.
5. There is a Constitutional Court that can say, that a law, the government determined is not legal to the constitution or human rights. Everybody in a country can make a suit, to let the Constitutional Court check a law.
6. Everybody can erect a political party or citizens' initiative in the intention, to prevent a decision of a government for example. Like the dam-project in China. A citizens' initiative could probably show better alternatives than the dam. But now, over 2 Mio. Chinese have to leave their homeland, where they live for generations.
8. The constituion comprised in the first points the human rights. That means:
8.1 dignity of human is inviolable.
8.2 bodily inviolacy.
8.3 equality to law. Regardless to race, parentage, sex, lineage, speak or fatherland: no human have advantages or disadvantages because of this.
8.4 Freedom of religion
8.5 Freedom of the press, freedom of opinion.
8.6 Freedom of assembly
8.7 Freedom of association
8.8. Secrecy of letters and other communication forms.
8.9. Liberality in living concerning to the location
8.10. inviolacy of your own home
8.11 possibility of petition.
9. The only influence in school is, that children learn what stands in the constituion and the human rights.
10. The army don't make an oath to any party, only to the constituion, tha garanteed the human rights and the mentioned points above.
These are some of the main points regarding to democracy. If government don't comply these regulations, government losing it's power.

So tell me: you said that many people in china want to support communist party. But what is with the people, who don't want to do that? What is with the people, who want to erect their own party, because they don't want to support idiotic projects like a-bomb testings or moon-space-projects, or want to do alternatives instead of the dam or investing more money into the school and university, so that more people are able to study? So why isn't that possible? Is the Communist party so afraid, that ANOTHER PARTY cold be better to the Chinese people needs, that they don't allow direct election and other parties? You are narrow minded, if you think, Chinese people can vote directly because they are so many! That's nonsens and stupid and you know it!
The fact is: China would be now the strongest high-tech country of the world, if Mao would have been a democrate. But he was a dictator.
