The Chinese government's crackdown began more than two years ago, and the numbers tell a grim story. According to the world media and human rights groups,At least 50,000 have been arrested and detained, more than 10,000 have been sentenced to labor camps without trial, more than 600 have been sent to psychiatric facilities, over 500 have received prison sentences at cursory show trials. Millions of peopleˇs human rights deprived. Moreover, detainees are often tortured and at least 365 practitioners have died as a result.
As you may know, those persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China suffer extreme mistreatment simply for peacefully exercising their beliefs which is a right guaranteed in China's own Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. However, the Chinese government has shown a total disregard of their obligation and responsibility under their Constitution and related international conventions by continuously taking numerous inhumane measures to escalate their atrocities against Falun Gong.
Innocent lives should not be deprived inhumanely. I believe the spirit of international justice still exists in our international community. Fundamental rights protection is still a clear and unchanged goal of human rights convention and also that of human rights organizations that strive for an achievement. Therefore, the Chinese governmentˇs breach of her legal obligation under international laws should not be lightly ignored and tolerated by any individual and human rights organizations that cherish the freedom of belief, a cornerstone in the founding of a modern society.
